You can soak twigs, or wood pellets with denatured alcohol in a gallon bag overnight. That may stop the soot problem. Worth a try.

Next time, add all sticks into the stove, then light your fuel up. Don't put sticks over the fire. That's what snuffs it out, making is smoke.

I also ordered the camo one and they sent me the wrong color. It’s not like it’s advertised. Mine is also not ripstop nylon. It’s also heavier than they advertise. I sent it back and ordered a different color. The digital. that one was correct color. But it’s still heavier than they say, and it is not ripstop, the company is now called no cry rain fly and maybe that’s why it’s no longer ripstop because the company changed

So with the 3 season pad, can you lay directly on the pad and use a top quilt or an unzippered sleeping bag as a blanket or do you need to be inside the sleeping bag to be warm?
@theoutdoorguys70912 жыл бұрын
You can lay directly on the pad - I prefer not to use a sleeping bag, only a quilt opened.

Grilling on this wonderful stove works best when the flames pretty much die down. Then, remove the entire pot support, and place the grill directly on the stove body. That way, you are cooking over a hot bed of coals for steady hot cooking.

Tea-less hot water. Sounds like me at a Chinese restaurant, part of their culture is drinking hot water as they think cold water lowers your tea. Excuse me while I go microwave my tea.

You should try stacking the sticks vertically and quite tightly and then light from the top.Cotton wool smeared with vaseline is a good way to start up.Also try using wood pellets (cat litter) Again lit from the top with some tinder. The small tray is for bio ethanol or methylated spirits (i think you call it denatured alcohol in America).You can also use gel fuel or hexamine tablets.If yo turn the fire basket upside down then the burn is closer to the pot and works much better.I have been using my stove for 5 or 6yrs now and its my go to stove and my favourite.Mine fits inside my billy can along with my fire kit and makes for a nice compact set up.I hope that you enjoy your learning journey with it.👍
@orraman54273 жыл бұрын
The alcohol gel melts when it burns so have you tried just using straight alcohol (Heet) in the stove? It would be cheaper and it wouldn't leave any residue.

Been very curious about the Draumr. Have you had it out in a rain storm yet. I know the new Amok tarps are bigger but I still wonder if the are big enough to keep the XL dry in a blowing rain. Seems like there is no side coverage and doesn't look like your foot box is covered that great in case the rain is a blowing one. Appreciate any feedback you have about it.
@theoutdoorguys70913 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. I have been out multiple times this year in the rain using the Amok. One time sticks out to me, it rained from 8pm until about 5am torrentially. I was completely dry. It is all about how you pitch it. I have it pitched higher in this video than I typically would if I knew storms were coming in. You can stake it out as such so you get real good side protection. As for the head and foot, there is plenty of protection there. Thank you for the question.
@bobbyknc3 жыл бұрын
@@theoutdoorguys7091 Thanks for the reply. If you get a chance to video it, would like to see how you stake it out for storms.
@John_P2903 жыл бұрын
Nice video. Did you have to seam seal the tarp?
@theoutdoorguys70913 жыл бұрын
No, I did not have to. I ran a hose over it for a good while. No leaks. They do include seam seal with it, but tell you not to apply it unless needed because it can discolor the rainfly. Thank you for watching!
@markjohnston78693 жыл бұрын
I watched one review which said to use the solid fuel burner tray you need to turn over the top section which puts the burner tray closer to the pot. I have also seen many reviews where they clearly have not checked what the grill is for. It is to use like a BBQ and as such should only be used to cook over the embers and not over flaming wood. See this vid at about 3:30 to see use with slid fuel by reversing the top. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHzKhnmfZsqLa68&ab_channel=Dave%27sRealSurvival

I've been using one of these for sometime. Ideal for a warm drink or hot meal on a day hike especially during the lockdown. I cut off a lump and let it burn out and put the remainder in a small zip lock bag. Hand sanitizer gel just about works for later use.
