Thank you for sharing what you went through. Same thing happened to me, I got saved at 17, got trapped in a period of legalism, it was really a very difficult 30 years for me. Now by God's grace, I'm still a believer, and God sanctifies me daily. Also not pursuing romantic relationships anymore, and just focusing on my relationship with Jesus.

Why did the early church father,the most learned mans in history can't understand how you are putting it according to Jesus sins atonement comes from repentance and following commandments but according to paul it just come by believing he died for your sins.

No1 died for our sins. Everyone will be accountable for their actions.

From everything I've been hearing, it's impossible to commit this sin. Other preachers have shown that even the unsaved cannot commit it! That is incredible. I believe this sin no longer exists.

Yeah, I had this verse used against me one person in particular used to get in my face and shout "don't you know that not everybody who says lord, lord, is saved" It took me a while to figure out what the verse actually meant I used to hate this verse so much but not anymore. I have struggled with homosexuality, and I am not happy with myself i’m so ashamed of the things I have done I have destroyed my marriage I have destroyed my life trust and believe in our Lord and Savior, Jesus he is the only one that can help me amen 🙏 I am so scared of that lifestyle please pray for me.

Wow what an encouraging testimony brother! Struggling with homosexuality must be one of the hardest things to deal with as a Christian. I'm impressed with the willingness to remain celibate and just as impressed that you left catholicism! It seems like those two decisions went hand and hand. It's easier to have a relationship with the Lord outside of catholicism. I will ask God to bless you with lots of Christian friends and that He keeps using your story to help similar people in furthering His kingdom!

I participated in various church communities since childhood, and adored God when I was little, but I grew up into the same kind of confusion you described here. For some reason nobody could offer the good news without a seasoning of ifs, buts, and commitments I couldn't keep. They CALLED it good news, and said I get joy and peace now. Unfortunately, they didn't notice that I was still a sinner! Big elephant in the room. Saved by grace (in theory), but kept messing up my salvation. Had to apologise with increasing sincerity each time. Eventually I gave up - the faux grace ran out and got replaced by shame and despair. When I couldn't distract myself from existential dread, I would read about Jesus in the gospels, because his love for weak despised sinners gave me hope. Proverbs and Ecclesiastes also spoke to me, but I avoided the rest of the OT. In the NT I couldn't make sense of Paul or anybody else (I felt like Paul condemned me and I didnt feel warmly towards him either). And FORGET Revelation - I was sure I was being spit out and lamp removed, if THAT Jesus was in charge. 😂 I was severely depressed and had a lot of panic attacks. I remember telling God: I'm living in despair, and I don't understand the bible, but I want so badly to trust you. Without you I'm lost. You are God, and I believe you are good. Please keep me, and please make it make sense. Oh my goodness, it took so LONG. Little moments of clarity when I'd stray into Romans and realise unexpectedly that Paul might not be my enemy. Or I'd meet someone who was convinced they were 'once saved always saved', and while I was vaguely aware they could be a dangerous heretic, they seemed so warm and loving and, well, JOYFUL. Were they taking salvation seriously?? I joined a bible study. That helped. But I still couldn't overcome sin (especially the sin of hating going to church). Why was I such a failure? Probably demonic oppression. I went down a youtube rabbit hole. One day, after listening to a particularly condemnatory sermon online, I googled 'false teachers' and read about Lordship salvation. I decided to take a break from churches. I searched scriptures for myself. Soon afterwards, I came across Renee Roland's channel and learned about 'free grace'. I swayed back and forth a bit... but at some point it all clicked into place. I was RIGHT - God IS good!!! The bible even says so, in so many ways I hadn't understood. Ohhh what a relief, and a joy, and FREEDOM. I'm not afraid, I don't doubt His love, and I see He is good from first line of Genesis to last word of Revelation. It turns out, Paul knew how good God is, and wanted me to know too. Blessed brother Paul! I'm on a much lower dose of a medicine than I used to be. It is helping with a small chemical imbalance instead of numbing a spiritual crisis. Jesus bore my sins and I am alive in Him. THANK YOU GOD! ❤

But repentance isn't merely apologizing for our sins, repentance is a change of heart and mind and turning from our sins in order to follow Jesus. So it's still important. .

And it's so much hope for Christians with SSA. Like myself. Please would you pray that I would have a strong foundation in knowing that God's love is constant for me and that my failures don't alter my identity in Christ as long as believe and I can always hope for more satisfaction and growth from Father God's work in me by grace.
