If Gennai had always been evil... why would he have helped the Digidestined at all? He could have abandoned them on File Island. Sure, maybe they'd have eventually tried building a raft and leaving, but Myotismon would have been long gone before they caught him, and they'd never have learnt about tags and crests.

i thought matt's arc was pretty good, until they returned to the digital world to face the dark masters. then all his character growth got reversed so gabumon could be a bad friend and fight agumon

This video is old, but in my opinion the writers had to cast Tai away to focus on the rest of the character's development after the original. When you cast a character away it's mainly because you know that this one will take so much attention. Izzy and the others shined when Tai had restricted involvement as a character. So technically, the story wasn't about Tai anymore that's why he wasn't given much attention as the original. But if he did get proper attention he'd be the best one in charge.

She is a pretty good girly girl thats also pretty capable and resourceful, with moments where she complains and is bratty. But thats layers. Also i think how she is extremely well diplomatic and charming people , she is pretty much a force in her own right that just needed a healthy direction. And that her stubbernness is a source of her best qualities and frustrating at times , is good character writing. Seriously she is the character who could talk down near anyone because she is that stubbern.

It's always heartbreaking whenever animes or fiction writers dive into the complexities of what makes someone create an alt personality. It's never done (or will be) out of sheer will or intention but a defense mechanism by the mind due to intense trauma. Unlike the other Yami's, YM was born out of the need for a protector. Which is why Odeon was able to "supress" the alt for so long, he was Marik's protector. Until he couldn't anymore. Which is when YM emerged.

I think there actually WAS common ground between them- the loss they went through at a very young age- but while Ryou became kinder due to losing his mother and sister, the Thief became harsh and unforgiving. This enabled the Thief to take advantage of Ryou's sympathetic nature and get an even stronger foothold. Plus, the Ring itself was a memento of the father who was barely there- a man who just left his remaining kid to emotionally fend for himself in the aftermath of losing half of their family. Ryou was PRIMED to be vulnerable to whoever he attached to- even if that was a thief possessing a hunk of metal who was willing to kill everyone else he liked.

Bakura/Yami Bakura has always been two of my favorite characters in the Yu-Gi-Oh anime/manga. There was one fanfic I remember reading which gave these two closure like Atem and Yugi and it was very emotional...I can't remember all of it but it's always stuck with me. I always found the dynamic between Yami Bakura and Ryou Bakura fascinating...and yeah it is akin to like an abusive/toxic couple...Yet I always head canoned that maybe Yami Bakura was always acting out of his past trauma...it doesn't excuse his actions and him hurting others however..As somebody who has PTSD and has dealt with manipulative people,.I related to Ryou Bakura on a deeply personal level..

hopefully toyotarou will make these two fight and hopefully akira gave his approval for this. and no im not expecting a long fight between them, its pretty much gonna be a traditional duel like two people with a gun in hand and see who has the quicker shot but I am expecting black frieza to face zenos guards, the grand priest and the other gods and maybe angels. When I was younger Davis was off to me. Then I watched the sub and fell in love with Daisuke, and I realized that everything I disliked about Davis was the added arrogance and stupidity that the dub gave him for some reason.

I think most Digimon fans can't stand Davis, because he has feelings for Kari and they see their TaKari Ship in danger. Anyway, I love him. For me he is a good leader with good character development and his funny manner is entertaining and leads the plot. Without him, Digimon 2 wouldn't be half as good. I cheered him on every time he tried to get close to Kari and I would have celebrated, if they had become a couple. TK's character, on the other hand, I find pretty flat and it probably didn't bother him that Davis wanted something from Kari. He certainly wouldn't have been a good leader. By the way, I think Davis is even better than Tai and Takato.

TK being the leader had merit, but Tai, and later Matt, understood why Davis needed to be the leader, so TK had to assume Matt’s role… until Ken joined and TK settled for Joe’s role in terms of responsibility.

He never had Veemon Dark Digivolve. He never had a moment like that. The closest is not wanting to hurt a mind controlled Agumon as MetalGreymon.

I know I’m late to the party, but I love Mimi and at a time where girl characters basically had to be “Not like the other girls” I love that Mimi came out shouting “I like pink!” And she stands right next to tomboy Sora not as a contrast, but because both paths are totally valid.

Daisuke/Davis is easily my most favourite character in the entire Digimon franchise. I give you four reasons: 1) He has a life outside of being digidestined, he lives a full life and is full of hope. He cares about humanity and digimon and is always willing to take on challenges. 2) Unlike Taichi, Ken, TK or even Yamato, Daisuke can't be trapped, he is emotionally resilient. Therefore, he never gives up. 3) He had the most growth throughout the show. He didn't want to be in so many situations and didn't want to make so many decisions but was pushed into them and made the most out of those situations. 4) He is flawed, is always willing to accept it and he forgives without holding grudges. He believes in second chances and is optimistic. This makes him the most human of all the Goggle-heads out there.

In the original series, he was great, he was overused in 02 because there was no need for him to be brought back as the final antagonist when his story was wrapped up well enough in the forst season. If anything it somewhat seems like a cop out or pandering to bring him back as the final big bad in 02. So yeah but also no. It depends upon perspective. While not my favorite personally, he was a great villain, but 02 could've left him out and had a better villain behind the curtain.
