Buy an ESU decoder and you will ALWAYS have momentum because CV3 and CV4 CANNOT be programmed. I'm using an ESU Lokpilot 5 decoder to control my turntable motor and quite obviously I don't want any momentum whatsoever. So I set CV4=0 and my turntable continues to slow down gradually with rails not aligning as it has overshot where I needed it to stop.
@EMDSD14R7 ай бұрын
Thanks for posting this video and the information on the CV's. I swapped in a decoder from an Atheran Genesis Gp38-2 into an Atlas RS3M. I couldn't figure out what CV was for the horns until iy saw your video. Thanak again!

What name and type of glue do you use
@modeltrain9500 Жыл бұрын
Depends what I'm gluing, but usually testors plastic cement is my go to. If you are gluing lenses, I would use a clear canopy glue meant for modeling "glass" objects. For these handrails, I didnt glue then, just friction fit.

Wonder if a white paint pen would work. I bought white paint pens at Walmart.
@modeltrain9500 Жыл бұрын
Those might work alright. It would definitely be best to bend, sand, prime, then paint, then seal... but that take a while. This is the basics I guess.. A white paint pen or even white nail polish would probably get the job done.

I wish I would have tried this years ago after breaking so many athearn rails. Intermountains rails were pretty fragile for a while too, something about the plastic made them look stiffer, but also more prone to breaking.

Have the Pennsylvania heritage and the NS originall heritage i got to say this my first ES44AC was the intermountain NS heritage ES44AC was the Nickel Plate Heritage and having these Scaletrains units have broke the hinges off the door definitely one of my best models I've had in my lifetime the intermountain ones i had to get the motors replaced because they could hardly pull and the handrails on the intermountain were horrible with the Scaletrains no compared to Intermountain units that's what my experience was for me having a gevo over the years
@modeltrain95002 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear you've been enjoying your models. Scaletrains really have changed the status quo of quality and detail for ho scale models. I want to get their NS Dash 9's, but am holding out for operation lifesaver and/or a non whiteface version. Athearn and Intermountain seems to be stepping things up as well, but the handrails definitely are of concern.

I can't even remember if I blocked off that speaker or not, now I forget - I'll have to take a look at that next time I'm in there. Finding these V5 Loksound decoders is harder than I was expecting.

Looks good David. I like to encapsulate the resistors and connections in liquid electrical tape. I should have some athearn light pipes I can send you. You just slightly drill the headlight holes and the slip in snug. They are plastic pipes with a tapered end for a little more surface area to glue the leds to. I use loctite Go2 glue.
@modeltrain95002 жыл бұрын
liquid electrical tape? Never heard of this but a quick google is pretty interesting. I guess it makes it a little messy if you go to take things apart later then, doesn't it? Someone else also suggested using crystal clear glue, I might need to look into that as well. I may try a few things- front lights and rear lights. I did some math and I don't think it makes sense that the power draw from the lights are overloading the decoder, so it might just be time to try out a new decoder. hope you've been well.
