On your new layout will you get a new dcc system to replace the Zephyr or get a hand held while still using the Zephyr?

As of now I will continue to use the zephyr. Eventually I may get into some of the handheld controllers, but it wouldnt be worth it at this point in time.

Good to hear you're getting into the hobby, it seems a lot of people are getting out, or video games are taking place of people that would otherwise have been getting in. To answer your question, it depends. Are you aware of DCC and the differences of that to normal DC operation? Are you going to want to use DCC? For your fist layout what are you planning to do? How many trains, tracks, etc are going to be used?

I have had one planned for the passed few weeks but I haven't gotten to making yet because I've been ill and my voice is all messed up. As soon as that clears I will do my best to get that video recorded and uploaded. I have been working on the layout a little bit, so that will be something to share.

What is a good cheap dcc decoder

BNSFfan2373 TCS and NCE do make nice decoders. I started with digitrax and I still like it. The 1 year accident free warranty is nice too.

BNSFfan2373 Good to hear. I've used digitrax for around 5 years now and haven't any problems with any of the decoders I've used (over 10 of them)

Thanks for the message. It would depend on the type of locomotive, and what you want it to look like. To be honest, I have very little experience with N scale, so I probably am not your best option. However, I would be interested to hear what you had in mind.
