Rustoleum Rust Reformer in the aerosol can is NOT THE SAME as the product of the exact same name and label but in the liquid form. The liquid Rust Reformer (8 ounces goes a LONG way) is an actual rust converter. It is pretty good, but there is a lot to be said about this subject. I had two phone calls with Rustoleum for over an hour total trying to understand this and this is only for their product - as every brand has their own "system" and even rust converters are not all the same, but they are basically the same.

The little snap ring: “Push down and remove it”. And then don’t show how to do it. Thanks a lot. While I drive a screwdriver through my thumb trying to get it off. And then “get the clip on as best you can”, great advice
@hityourtarget562 ай бұрын
I'm having a hell of a time trying to remove the C clip but I think using a 1/4" deep socket the size of the clip would work to install the clip along with a light hammer, brass hammer or even a rubber mallet should do the trick.

Thanks, that was just what I needed. I bought a used bumper with the lock still in it. My job was much easier because I had access to the tube from the back. Knowing where that little latch was on the cylinder made it easy.

Yep. My Ranger has broken 2 of them. Before installing the new one, I'd spray it with Armour All protectorant. You don't know how long the new one has been sitting on the shelf, For an emergency repair you can use a 6 inch piece of #12 wire and wrap it around the shaft and back over the pedal to keep it from slipping off.
@ChaosGarage3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tips. I ended up drilling a hole in the end and put a cotter pin to keep thew new one from popping off.

@@ChaosGarage I'm writing the NHTSA about this problem. Not one of Fords better ideas. Many Fords affected!!! A safety wire should be installed! Many years ago I had a Gremlin and the bellcrank pivot broke- just wore thru. Its under the car. Left me stranded. Got the new part the next day and put it on.

Great video, thanks! For anyone who may need to know - the process is the same for a 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser. The bushing looks very similar too. As the video narrator mentions at the end, press the new plastic bushing into the hole in the rod first (make sure it is facing the same way as the old bushing you removed) and then press the plastic rod back onto the steel clutch pedal metal shaft. Took me 30 seconds.

You need todo 10 degrees each way like say your idle timing is 15 you want to go plus 10 and neg 10 so it bounces between 5 and 25 degrees and it will chop like a heavy cammed ls engine.
@ChaosGarage5 ай бұрын
Initially I had it adding 10 and removing 8. My idle timing is set to 20 so it was swinging 12-32 degrees. I might need to get a little more aggressive with how much it's pulling just to see what happens. Thanks for the input. I think I'll revisit this soon.
@eazybuicks4565 ай бұрын
@@ChaosGarage Yeah the closer you can get it to drop to tdc the better if you can get it to swing towards 0 degrees then back up itll chop chop. I have the sniper stealth on blueprint 396 stroker 15 idle timing i swing plus and minus ten and chop chop chop chop Sounds like a huge cammed ls

I have some old rust reformer and other paints and primers and have a radiator shroud (not going to use long term, will eventually stand up the radiator, it's a 4th gen camaro with the tilted radiator) and little brackets for holding the headlights in as well as a steering linkage I still need to take apart (and replace the rag joint with metal). The shroud had a little spot of rust which did piss me off a bit as it was powder coated from BMR already. The headlights even had a little rust on them and the brackets had a ton of rust. I wire wheeled the loose crap off the brackets. I'm hitting everything with rust reformer then a primer then a top coat, because why not?

@ChaosGarage9 ай бұрын
Yes, it is a little dated now but has worked fine for me. There are also cheaper bluetooth options you can pair with your phone if you just want to scan/reset codes and see emissions information. OBDLink and Blue Driver are some good brands but you can get a basic one that may do the job for around $15 on amazon or ebay.
