1978 Firebird Formula Part 15: New Gears, New Brakes, More Paint, and…more!

In the last video I told you guys I had some plans. One of them you can see in this video! The rear end is all cleaned up and painted. I plopped in an Eaton Detroit Truetrac carrier with a set of Summit Racing 3.73 gears. Get outta here you old 2.43 highway gears! I also took the opportunity to upgrade to some Moser 30 spline beefier axles since I had to change the carrier. New paint, rebuilt drum brakes, there has been a lot going on the past month. That's the easiest and cheapest route since he gave me a ton of parts. I'm reusing what I can and throwing some upgrades in there for me along the way! I still have a surprise or two up my sleeve in the master plan. :)

Great progress since the last update. Always loved the look of traction bars. Planning to put some on my 68 Camaro, more from a styling perspective. Your update is worth a thumbs up! Cheers!

You did an nice job getting everything back into shape. Can you get the wheels power coated? I saw Eastwood has chrome color powder coat.

Thanks, still lots to go back together for sure. I'm not sure on what I'm going to do with the wheels yet until I get motivated to start sanding and polishing. We'll see what happens.
