Hi Susan! Great blog on freedom from bondage. Another why is for folks like myself who want freedom from gluttony and want to participate in BLE to show honor and respect to God by honoring our bodies as he lives in our "temple". This has also helped me not be attached to the why of working the program for weight loss or fixation on the scale for results. Per your program and working the 12 steps, one day at a time, healing from trauma and hurts, accountablity, and service, I am truly free from the voice that would plague me and my peace 245 days later. Thank you for all you do and letting me share. Blessings!

Good, honest video! With almost anything in life, we have to practice to become good at it. Whether it's playing a new instrument, learning how to dance, etc. Why should adopting a new style of eating be different? I think of "failed" attempts as practice. Just keep practicing and learning as you go along.

I honor my using popcorn to transition into BLE and away from my potato chip habit. Now I am honoring my need for freedom and peace and no longer justifying it in my diet. It has become a comfort or crutch, and it leads to spiraling from once to twice and a growing reaching for more more more. A mindless eating that is not freedom.😊

Wow i just listened to this vlog today I am a newbie to BLE i have to say that the business of BLE to me is very transparent . And we are all human and each and everyone of us makes mistakes me included. But we don't have millions of people watching us , reading about us ect. To Joanne Congratulations on getting more specific credit on how this book was born now i have to get it and read it.

Such an interesting topic. I used to binge horribly for years. But I’m not sure I’m a food addict, don’t think I am cuz once I am full I CAN go for hours without even thinking about food. Even when in a fasted state I can go without eating. Most of the time these days I forget to eat! I’m so grateful I got my binge eating under control cuz there were times when I wasn’t sure I would ever improve. I rarely binge anymore, and if I DO I don’t beat myself up, I forgive myself, and then I move on……….

Thank you, Susan. This vlog is a keeper ... it was emotional for me. I still wish at times I could be an occasional drinker and an occasional eater of an apple fritter, a sandwich or a slice of pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving. But I cannot. The bargaining and mental chatter will begin immediately as to when I can have the next. My only respite is entire abstinence from sugar and flour plus weighing and measuring plus ACA 12 steps. In those I have freedom from the chatter. And live life at the same clothing size for almost 3 years.

Appetite comes with eating. I can be triggered by a bowl of fruit. If I help myself to a banana, next thing I know, I've eaten the whole bunch, leaving none for later. I honestly lose control, so it is probably bingeing,. Thank you for giving us the science, to help us understand our eating.

I'm the same way, especially with bananas and grapes. I never used to binge like that but I think because I am not eating those items, I now go crazy if I do have them. Before when I ate whatever I wanted, I didn't binge. Didn't need to.

I can completely relate from my own experience in a 12 step food program and how the extrinsic reward system worked for me then but impacted in other negative ways in my life/relationships. I am so VERY grateful to you Susan and your ongoing work with BLE, as it has helped me to develop my own strong intrinsic motivation. This vlog inspired me to comment for the first time, as I am a chronic rezoomer! First of all, since reading the book, my relationship with food just has NEVER BEEN THE SAME, and for that I am eternally grateful. I had about 50 pounds to lose and after losing about half of it, I started floundering and experimenting. And with each deviation from the Bright plan, I am learning something new about myself and the changes I need to make. But NEVER, NEVER, NEVER have I stopped feeling the incredible freedom bright eating brought to my life experience. Being an absolute 10 on the susceptibility scale, for the first time I was explained how my brain works and steps I need to take to free myself from the cycle of self abuse. Last week we wend for our first Post Covid ALL INCLUSIVE HOLIDAY. WOW. I did not have to think of "Do I Want to eat the ice cream? How much ice cream is too much ice cream? What about Chocolate waffles?" and then feel too full to relax. I focused on EVERYTHING ELSE: Day and night time swims in the sea, walks in nature, connecting with my family, reading, dancing, making love! And guess what? Best holiday ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't even want to mention that I also had no guilt stepping on the scale after coming back as the freedom experienced during the holiday outshines it by far. In my heart of hearts I know Bright living is Free living, so I never really fail. I work with parts of me that resist and I am compassionate and patient with myself, I know that one day I will just stick to it and will never look back.

Such a gracious answer. I do bright line eating with a 12 step program. I need that support, I need that work and accountability because I'm an addict and I'm a liar. I love this program, however, because I also need science, and this plan is 100% working for me. I'm satiated and I'm losing weight. I've yet to rezoom in BLE, but I know it can happen, and it does not mean I throw in the towel for good.

Susan, wanted to comment on your vlog. I appreciated you mentioning a 12 step program as an option for support. Your answers show that there are many paths to success and each of us are different. For me, BLE was successful in my first attempt and then the lines blurred years later. But then I learned about healing trauma in my 12 Steps with Celebrate Recovery and with BLE AND Celebrate Recovery for my wounds, I'm down almost 50lbs. You have said that food addiction is an outcome to not dealing with issues and that you have to get to the root of what the issues are to really heal and to maintain healthy boundaries with food. I have found that truthful. I also appreciate the additional accountabiity found in 12 step programs for my success and having a sponsor. While you are the face of BLE, I appreciate your sharing and encouraging other avenues for healing. From faith to secular. Blessings, to you!

Thanks, Dr. Thompson. This is very encouraging. It resonated with me from quitting smoking after 12 years of smoking and quitting numerous times. I used strategies from Tony Robbins at that time over 25 years ago. I feel it will finally take with Bright Line Eating too. My first experience I got to my goal weight in 2017 and like so many of us, life happened. I know and love the BLE program. I just need to get sick and tired enough of yoyoing to be a full-time Bright Lifer for life. Billie - Arkansas

I have been in BLE for years, Jan 2017. I was looking for a healthy gluten free group when i found #BrightLineEating. This food recovery program is what I have always wanted my other programs to be, tell me exactly how much protein veggies and fruit to eat so I can be successful. !!And it works!! I am in my “normal”BMI range. I just got my “Maintenance Guide” yesterday & added my first protein today. I am so connected to our FB group and truly feel like this is my life long answer & support family ❤ UnstoppaBLE Better Together

Me! I hit the mark smoothly right off the bat when I first found BLE. Stayed in, what I thought was, my right weight for about 3-months then had about 4 years of "experimenting/rollercoastering" till I hit my original start weight again. When I got a scary A1C# from my blood work, BOOM, that same day I was grateful for all my BLE know-how and resources and I Rezoomed, never looking back. I slid right back down the beautiful BLE slide to what I truly know is my right weight (even a bit lower than the first time) and have been peacefully, blissfully here enjoying my Maintenance BLE food plan. 27 lbs gone in 140 days. Have been in my new, great reality going on 7-months now. Knowing what it took to get here makes this experience feel all the more precious. It's an even deeper experience than the first time. The BLE plan is always right there, ready to work for you as soon as you choose to embrace it. It has helped me to truly and throughly break the hold sugar and processed foods had on me which is just as amazing a feeling as living at this weight that makes me feel just right. Thank you, Susan!

I'm succeeding now after YEARS of starting and stopping. For me, 1) It's now or never due to my age of 65, 2) if I want to live a functional and fun retirement, I need to be able to walk well, stand around in museums, go up and down stairs with ease, and basically not carry another 100 pounds that's making all of that impossible. I want a different kind of life, and I'm either going to do it now, or I'll go to my grave not having done it, with a very reduced retirement experience and possibly life span. I'm doing Boot Camp *again*, and doing EVERYTHING I'm told. I'm no longer trying to do it alone. I'm walking the talk now and I'm excited about the future. It's working for me. It's always made sense to me, and I did want a secular approach, but now I can do it, whereas before I could not.

Thank you Susan!!!! I’m one of those who has rezoomed so many times I can’t count them. I’ve reached goal weight once but life got lifey and it all reappeared. I just passed my 6 year anniversary with BLE. To celebrate, I’ve recommitted to JFTFP!! I’m just over a week in and feeling really good. I have an absolutely amazing Gideon Games team that is super supportive and the best cheerleaders! Every time I rezoom, my mind is determined that "this time it will stick". This is the only plan that has ever worked to get me to goal weight in 30+ years. I would love to go to the Shift recovery or work with Everett but I just don’t have the money to do that. So I’ll just take ODAAT and keep rezooming as many times as it takes!!!!
