I bought her blazer and pants recently. PLT has the worsttttt customer service and warehouse team too. They didn’t send the pants I bought with the blazer and they didn’t get them to me in time for the event. The pants came late, so I made a return for the outfit. Now they’re only giving me a refund for the blazer when I sent BOTH in. I spoke to about 3 customer service reps and they will ignore you straight in your face and it’s basically gaslighting. It’s really sad. Not ethical. I studied business. They’re scamming money from me if I don’t see the full refund by Aug 6th. I can only imagine who else this happened or happens to. 😢

Do you all just hate celebrities making affordable clothes. There’s more people buying primark than an expensive eco friendly clothing brand. Instead of getting upset at primark get upset at the fact eco friendly also means more money that we don’t have to spend.
@greenstockingsociety
@greenstockingsociety 2 ай бұрын
Affordable FOR WHO though??? Someone is facing abuse and violations of their humans rights so we can have a £5 top we'll only wear twice then throw away? And let's not forget that SHEIN's average market for example is actually middle aged women with plenty of disposable income to buy better. The problem is not the people who can't afford anything more than Primark (in their case, what systems have we created that mean people can't afford to buy things that are made fairly?), the problem is that so many people CAN choose to buy less but better and they don't. Often, sustainable fashion isnt expensive for what it is - fast fashion has just warped our idea of what clothes should cost. Plus, buying second hand is accessible to most people and is still way better than buying fast fashion new. And don't even get me started on whether we can AFFORD to keep fuelling the fast fashion industry from a climate perspective - we as a species actually can't afford, long term, to continue at this pace with these materials and these ethics.

Taylor Swift IS a different kind of billionaire. Most billionaires are technical billionaires because they own part of the company they started. It’s not like they have it in cash. They can’t cash out without giving up their companies. Taylor swift however has it in pure cash. She did not start a public company. So she is actually richer than a lot of other billionaires

So what is the next step of your master plan? What laws/system would you impose to fix this issue? Also you wrote that that the issue is that millionares dont make but TAKE money, but isnt that true of litteraly everybody including waiters? Also I found a study by wealth-X, that puts in question your argument about percentage of millionares who had massive wealth alredy at their disposal.Feel free to put a holes in it, Im not sure how reliable it is. "A study published by wealh-X found that around 68 percent of those with a net worth of $30 million or more made it themselves. Further, a second study by Fidelity Investments found that 88 percent of all millionaires are self-made, meaning they did not inherit their wealth."

Also, you mentioned that the biggest problem is EXPLOTATION. People will take unethical actions to achive their means,sometimes resulting in really dubious things, thats true. But capitalistic democratic system alredy has a means of combating that.Regulation laws are passed,to try to minimize this predicament.Yes they are not perfect, nothing ever will be, but in my opinion this is the least explotative system currently existing. Also please dont bully me for my grammer,i beg of thee. im just kind of stupid

Yeah, the same type of tape is Scotch tape in the US-which is, similarly, a brand name and a generic name, probably to the chagrin of 3M. (It’s not the same product-Scotch tape and Sellotape are made by different companies.) If you mentioned Sellotape in the US, practically no one would know what you were talking about.

Sellotape doesn't exist in Canada. Scotch tape is a 3M product whose name has somehow come to represent all basic office-supply kind of clear tape in a small plastic dispenser, similar to how Kleenex has come to be the name for all soft face tissues in cardboard boxes. Edit: Oh yeah, they say the dispensers are refillable, but more places sell the tape with the dispenser than just the tape rolls, though just the rolls are cheaper for the length of tape you get if you can find them.

I'm a senior in highschool here in america and i am absolutely terrified of what is going to happen in the future if we do not start making proper swaps and stop greenwashing. You learn about this stuff in school, but they never actually teach you how to make your life more sustainable and kind to the planet. We need laws that prevent this, and legislation that actually gives a damn.

If charity from billionaires actually worked then why so much poverty? And poverty in the west has gone from almost nil in the 80's to the ridiculous and inhumaine levels we see today. Everybody must pay their share of the tax burden. Scientific studies have proven that the big difference between a hard working average person and a hard working billionaire is luck. See kzbin.info/www/bejne/laG4qaSBptOAorM That said the problem is not the wealth at the top but the poverty at the bottom. We need to have minimum standards of living that are vigorously applied.

But wait THERE'S MORE! Of course you find out extra information after you've uploaded the video...🙃 So I learnt that Sellotape have released an apparently 'plastic free' version of their tape. Naturally, it's way more expensive and niche, so it's not the corner shop variety, but ALSO it's not clear if it is biodegradable. Found a great article about how this constitutes greenwashing, check it out here: www.refillsontheroad.com/post/let-s-talk-about-sellotape-s-greenwashing

Here's the crazy thing. Sellotape, Scotch tape, etc... all used to be made from cellophane up until the 70s before switching to plastic. That goes for plastic wrap too - it used to be cellophane, which is made from wood or other cellulose. The old manufacturing technique was toxic but there is a new process which is no longer toxic. Cellophane is compostable and biodegradable, and can be obtained from biomaterials. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cellophane

The thing that gets me about the paper packaging on a lot of products these days is that frequently the paper packaging is still coated with plastic on the outside/inside to protect the product from water damage during transit or maybe to make the packaging more durable. I vermicompost and have made the mistake of putting paper products that I thought were plastic free into my bin, only to find out they are coated with plastic and then I have to pull out all of the pieces of plastic over the following months after the worms have eaten off the paper. Truly wild. And as the consumer you can't really tell that the paper is lined with plastic a lot of the time.

Good question, I've just looked into this a little more and turns out Sellotape have released a new 'plastic free' version though, surprise surprise, that's not the one you would normally pick up at a corner shop, plus it's more expensive PLUS it's not actually clear if it is biodegradable. This article breaks that down: www.refillsontheroad.com/post/let-s-talk-about-sellotape-s-greenwashing 'Consumers who believe Sellotape's zero plastic claims are paying 260% more for a product that is no better for the environment than Sellotape original.'

This is such a great video, I’m shocked it has so few views! Also, the US equivalent to sello tape is scotch tape, but after living 4 years in England I will say with confidence scotch tape is so much better. Yes, the dispensers are more plastic, but they are re-fillable and so convenient I’d argue they make it so you use less. I didn’t realize I was so passionate about this topic until just now

Its so hard to know what is really sustainable these days. I was thinking of going organic but after looking into the organic industry its an absolute farce! Not what you would think when you buy organic. Also i have tried multiple shampoo bars and deodorant sticks and none of them suit me and now i have a graveyard of really expensive products in my bathroom cabinet.
@greenstockingsociety
@greenstockingsociety 4 ай бұрын
The graveyard is such a good way of describing it! I use Wild deodorant and whilst it is quite good I do want to try some others to see if they're better but then I think well, what's the point in having 10 different refillable things I paid a premium for because the intention is to keep them for a long time? Defeats the point! My boyfriend uses the Life Supplies antiperspirant btw and he went through a few to find it! It's just like a normal roll on but refillable.

also re: the sustainable tape- my mum uses it for her parcels most of the time now (she sends a lot, she has a small business) but if its not packing tape, imagine you just want tape to hang up pictures on your wall... if its not see-through like the sustainable one just isnt, that sucks, cause now you can very much see the tape, and who wants that? so of course you'd buy the plastic, see-through one
