That would have been awesome to see! Unfortunately, I think it was just a slightly rusted 55 gal drum. 😔

If someone is criticizing you for driving three hours for a meal with your husband for Valentine’s Day, then phooey on them. Many couples nowadays are roommates, and the fact you do this with each other is, or should be, inspirational. My wife and I do this for every anniversary as well as Valentine’s Day, it is great! We feel like we’re dating again! Kudos to you, enjoy!

Planning a similar trip next month from Florida! I was wondering if they let you rent the sled overnight while camping.

At the time we went, they did. We arrived late afternoon, rented right outside the park, and returned the next day on our way out.

You definitely captured what a night out on the dunes is like. It’s beautiful but a hard slog. Next time bring some adjustable trekking poles, it’s amazing the help they provide when hiking in loose sand.

I would have never thought to use poles in sand! We will definitely have to check that out.

Carter Chronicles, super job with this video, as is anything having to do with AK. May I point out 2 years after the fact that the language from which the name Denali originates is Koyukon (COY-uh-con), which is the Athabascan language family, as English is in the Germanic family. Other languages in that family are Navajo and Apache. However, there's a boat load of other tribes in Canada from this family. Back in '84 on my solo drive to AK, I got on the bus next in line, which was fine. However, at Eielson a tire blew, and the tiny lady driver couldn't get the tire off, so we waited several hours for a replacement bus, which means we didn't get to go the last 17 miles. However, we still saw a lot of wildlife. I was one of the fortunate few who got to see the mtn. clearly.

We have still never gotten to see Denali clearly, but just another reason to go back, right?! 😊

Whether there is land or sea before the runway makes no difference. The procedures are exactly the same. ILS puts you at the start of the runway. Never a serious accident happened on this airport.
