I purposely bought my Hyundai that was assembled in Korea. 137k. Changed a wheel bearing. Thats it. Base model, manual transmission. Most reliable car ive ever had. Youve stated for what feels like an eternity about the engine being made in US. Thats not something to brag about. Engine, tranny, USA. Assembled in Mexico? Combination for disaster.

My daughter has a 4 Runner limited and I'm trying to learn this system so i can explain it to her a bit. Am I correct in assuming there is no front or rear diff lock. available on this full time 4wd system? And the "trac' is engaged all the time? Which is really nothing, as a limited slip differential would be standard on these vehicles? Or is it? Is A trac available on the full time 4wd models?

In 4H trac is on. Trac is a LSD simulator. In 4L ATRAC is on. ATRAC is a locker simulator and actually may be considered better than a locker insofar as power delivery. The center differential (front to rear split) is a mechanical Torsen LSD. The car is never in an "open differential" status unless you hold the traction-off button for 6 seconds.

Lol, i doubt it they have no parts for anything cant even fix the hose issue with gas. lol its been 4 months waiting for a hose, lol. Ohhh, by the way, my 22 sport shut engine just stopped running at a red light. The radio went dead. The onk6 thing on was dash light, took it in same day, got toyota engineers involved. They said itcwas running right, and no diag codes or errors were found when they pulked data. I got a lawyer due to previous issues. The pcs system is going off without anyone in front. The issue with the engine shut down. The side panels on the seat, breaking constantly, and the weird engine noises that they say is fine.

I bought a new 2012 Civic and did first oil change at 400 miles. Avoided constant speed interstate roads. Did next oil change at 1000 miles then just drove normally and did 5k oil and filter changes. At 200k now an not a single engine leak or failure.

Thanks for the insight. I guess it's the mass production method of these engines that are the problem. Not the engineering. Building one at a time for lab purposes will have different manufacturing QA than mass producing them.

This was trash left in the engine by the milling robot... if we are to be objective that has nothing to do with having a turbine. They didn't clean the engine out after shaving it...

Toyota is the new Boeing The Tundra will take a decade to recover from this news If I were them I would figure out how to build the new truck around the 5.7 and figure out how to lower the fleet avg MPG another way There is no way Tundra recovers from this with truck and towing owners who make a living with their truck’s without an immediate shutdown and change of direction If I were them I would stop all production immediately and stop the brand reliability bleeding Take a year off fix the issues and come back in 2026 with the right tundra Any further issues will damage the toyota brand and consumer confidence forever regarding the Tundra - It’s not a car - this is a truck horrible horrible

They don't need to lower the mpgs on the 5.7L as the TTV6 gets basically the same exact mpgs 😆 so CAFE is not the issue.... Toyota thinks the consumer will whine about low power output vs the competition

"machining debris" that went unnoticed for years. The fix for this would need to be engine replacement since the damage would already be done vs replacing a valve spring. Some owners have had replacement shortblocks but "debris" in the engine could have made it to the turbos since the oil is shared...

This is much worse than bad valves on the old GX… this remedy will call for a complete engine removal/teardown. Do you really trust these Toyota mechanics to do that and warranty their work? No

Toyota and other Japanese auto makers should always build their new platforms in Japan. They can’t trust these lazy American workers 😂. Even the engineers and executives, all they care about is how much they make and how to make your boss happy and move to another company as soon as you can.

Hmmmmm. Even after the recall I would never buy this engine. Turbos in gasoline powerplants are inherently less reliable. They still have sooo much to prove till I’d ever buy one if ever. Thank goodness my 2 GX’s are extremely low mileage as they have to see me thru the insanity Toyota is putting us thru.

Having owned an older Tundra I know from personal experience that getting something fixed is not that easy especially if you cannot take the truck to the selling dealer. In my case I'd moved and the dealers didn't want to touch it. KPT's excuse was they needed the parts for the trucks they'd sold so they couldn't fix mine. I went back to Chevy.
