No consumer car winch is "Made in USA"... no, "Assembled in USA" is not the same thing. That simply means someone here in 'Murica sits in a room and glues Chinese winch components together then stamps the unit as "assembled" (not made) in the USA. Don't fall for the disingenuous, suggestive, implicative, marketing bulloxxx. Come Up is the only Taiwan made winch readily sold to Americans. The Vevor 13k winch is obviously a value proposition, but if you're gonna pay for a Chinese winch, why pay more? We didn't load test (actual vehicle winch pull test) this Vevor winch because it's already been well documented in other KZbin videos to work competently. Also, anecdotal online reviews suggest most customers are very happy with the unit and have no complaints. If this Vevor winch gives us any problems whatsoever we will update this pinned post. If you don't see any updates to this post it means the winch is working fine and we're happy it.

I've never seen a portable rear hitch winch mount before! My mind is blown and I need one of these! Thanks Mr. GX!! There was that one time I was out Solo and got stuck in deep mud in the Mammoth area. I really could have used something like this. I already have anderson connectors routed to the rear of my vehicle, so this would be perfect!
@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD4 ай бұрын
excellent! do it! Also if you carry a spare set of Andersons (short pigtail for the battery end) and a wrench for the battery terminal nuts you can transfer the winch to any of your trail pals on the trail who have a 2" receiver... the possibilities are endless 😃 👐 🌈 ✨️

one thing to note with chineese "white label" stuff is its not nessarly white label. the same factory might make it but one customer will spec high quality japanese berrings and another will go with whatever cheap overproduction run of berrings from a neighboring factory is available at the time. this is espescily true with things like electonics, and button components.

I have a front mounted winch on my gx, but have never "needed" it- digging and traction boards usually work and safer. it's just an insurance policy. I did buy a more expensive brand for the warranty and perceived quality since when you need it, you really need it. The deadman land anchor seems to get good reviews in real life usage; however it's nearly $300. seems to be a good option for people who can get good use out of it.

Installed a 9K pound Come Up Slim Seal winch, mounted in a CBI COVERT front bumper, on my 2024 Tundra TRD PRO. Added two NYTOP recovery points to the rear. Now when things go south (due to my errors or because “shit happens”) I can, hopefully, self recover or get dragged out.

@@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD none at all…the manager of the shop here in the KCMO metro (Adventure Motors) recommended it over the Warn, Smitty Built, or any others he can order and install. More expensive, absolutely, but he runs them on his off road vehicles and has several years of experience with them…superb quality. A buddy and I are going to take basic, intermediate and advanced recovery classes with Switchback Safety here in the KCMO area. We both want to be sure we can use our recovery gear (winches, kinetic ropes, etc.) safely and efficiently.

Problem is if you’re by yourself you likely only need it going up hill. Can’t use it in rear to hitch so now you need a front hitch mount. Both front and rear likely reducing approach

If you do plan on using the hitch mount, just make sure you find a way to secure the winch in the vehicle while traveling. You do not want that thing flying around in the event of a roll over or even a sudden stop.

Yeah rebranding of chinese equipment to sell at a large markup seems to have become fairly common business model, i definitely didn't find exact same mag drill press from "local company" that i bought a year ago on aliexpress for half the price just a few days ago by accident...

@pickledpotato4771 ya exactly... trace this stuff a bit and you'll find just a few major factories in China... then it's whatever the market will bear... some are sold cheap, some get neon stickers and are marked up 8X... is what it is 😆

@TheWinwin4all Winch was sent to us for free by Vevor for consideration... you can bolt/weld a 2" receiver to any part of your front ladder/bumper that makes sense and hook the winch up to the front... check YT there's people who mount portable winches to the front end of their vehicles

Be warned! That winch may be rated 12,000 lbs., but that receiver hitch and/or winch cradle may not be? If you have it under a load, and it fails, it will then become a projectile. There are a few videos on KZbin that show you this......one of them resulted in a death.
@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD4 ай бұрын
@jimsatterfield7454 The cradle is rated to like 12k or something and I suspect the _actual_ rating of this winch is closer to that 11.5k ... either way the winch at half spool ot more will be closer to an 6-8k load
@jimsatterfield74544 ай бұрын
Be careful man. The cradle can be rated at 6-8k, but the weak link still would be the actual receiver or the pin/bolt that keeps the cradle in the receiver? Be safe please 👍.
@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD4 ай бұрын
@jimsatterfield7454 The cradle is rated at 12k. A standard 5/8" hitch pin is rated at like 22k. And unless the winch line is pulled out all the way the actual strength of the winch is basically halved... so in reality the winch and everything attached to it will see 6-8k loads max

How long before we see you post a video that says "Don't Buy This Winch."? I have to frequently remind myself that "Buy Once Cry Once" usually applies to these things. I'm not saying you need to buy a $5000 Warn winch. But you ought to do a little research and find out what works good. I'm on my 3rd winch, a Harbor Freight Badland 12K Apex Synthetic which I have pulled 13 vehicles out with. It costs almost double what you paid for that winch. I'm on my 2nd Jeep bumper, a made in the USA Iron Bear Customs bumper after bending a Chinese bumper. I hate to say but I think you going to learn why you shouldn't buy the cheapest winch out there. Maybe you'll get lucky and that one wont fry itself when it gets wet. A buddy of mine bought a similar "Cheapest Chinese Winch" he could find. It got wet and died.
