I thought at the end, Kain saw a bigger game at play. I think if the story continued, we'd find out the blade is of hylden origin meant to break the seal. I think the elder god is the mechanism that kept nosgoth safe from the hylden invasion. By isolating Nosgoth in this cycle, the hylden are unable to interact with Nosgoth.

Kinda wonder how exactly the Hylden cursed the Vampires, since their society was built on science and not Faith or Magic like the Vampires did.

See the problem with how Vorador changes so much in BO2 as opposed to the rest of the games is simple. it's not cannon and doesn't fall in line with the other games it's just there off to the side as a "what if" scenario and not a "oh yeah this is defiantly cannon and doesn't cause any issues at all" and since the story for BO2 doesn't really progress the over arching story it's TBH best to just ignore it really.

Umah, if she hadn't betrayed Kain and lived during Soul Reaver, beholding the absolute wastelands: "Oh yeah... I can REALLY see how Kain's rule is different from the Sarafan lord now... we technologically regressed by around 300 years and grass no longer exists, and blood is incredibly difficult to come by. Nice going..."

Here's a WEIRD thing that I only realized a few days ago: when you finish SR1 and continue over in SR2, Raziel chases Kain through the chronoplast, therefore you now basically have 1 older Raziel and 1 older Kain roaming around in a much earlier Nosgoth. Therefore, you'd think there's a chance of their younger versions coming in contact with their older counterparts. Raziel actually does, as towards the end of SR2 he faces his sarafan self and has a battle with him (ironically killing him, which is why he dies, which is why Kain later resurrects him as a vampire, so you go full-circle). However, Kain never manages to come across his younger self, nor you while playing as Raziel. Remember that all of Raziel's encounters with Kain throughout SR2 are between their older selves, the ones that went back in time from the SR1 era. I think it would've been so amazing to have old (wraith) Raziel cross paths with young Kain, who would not yet know who Raziel is. Or even older Kain with young Kain, with some intricate philosophical dialogue exchange...

Great video boss. All these years later and this is still my favorite game series in how to create there story telling. I want another game in this world but damn how do they match what has been made.

1./ The Legacy of Kain is not a trilogy, it has five titles. 2./ This epic series has a massive lore collection the likes of which only a few can even match.

I think Uma, if Raziel came back from the lake of dead, would've been an invaluable ally to him. I probably think she'll tell Raziel to be wary of the Wheel Of Fate, as well.

I was a kid when this came out and now diving into the lore gives me and understanding. the thing that gets me is. why as a kid was i so drawn to specifically soul reaver the 1st one not knowing or understanding it. any one else felt that?

For me it’s the best by far

You know a thing that I've been thinking that could be done? A Soul Reaver Remake but with a bit more. The game would present a few questions at the start of the game. As you answered the questions you would be presented with 1 of 3 scenarios of Soul Reaver. The first one is a remake of the retail version of Soul Reaver with the same content (glyphs, bosses until Dumah, fire forge etc), ending the same way it did with Kain escaping to the past and meeting Moebius. The 2nd one is a remake of this one with all the cut content (other forges, directional climbing, possession, smokestacks, kains retreat, Turel, Ariel and Kain Reaver, Kain's death, etc.) , ending with Raziel at the top of the Cathedral being congratulated by the Elder God after killing all the vampires. The 3rd one is very similar to the previous one but with some changes like the first wraith Vampire of each clan gives you a lesser version of the ability similar to Morlock, while the Lieutenant gives you the empowered version (for example Wraith Zephonim gives regular climbing, Zephon gives the faster directional climbing). Also an added underground area for the Razielim survivors with that bat like Vampire concept during the credits of SR1 being Raziel's 2nd in command that resents Raziel for the fall of the clan that results in the restoration of Raziel wings, Vorador still being alive hinting at points from SR2, BO2 and Defiance that Raziel has yet to understand. The game ends the same way as the previous version, but after the credits Demons emerge and Raziel questions the Elder God like in here. You resume playing the game and need to go to the chronoplast while facing demons in you path. Upon time travelling, Raziel is met not by Moebius, but by another future Kain (one was Defiance Kain, the other is that timeline Kain). The game would make use of the original voice lines with improved graphics, mechanics, some reworked powers (sorry Constrict, you got to go, even SR2 and Defiance realized that, we also get the defiance TK sooner instead of just the enhanced projectile), somewhat similar but also partially reworked boss fights (especially Kain's 3 boss fights) partially keeping the block puzzles but also putting a few new ones. It would be a Remake, the Alpha version and a sort of reboot/sequel at the same time since the 3 are basically the same game you just need to make the last version, restrict content on the other 2 versions and change the endings. People that want a faithful remake have it, people who want this version have it, people that want a sequel have it Ironically it would be Kain refuses the sacrifice (so he runs into the past), Kain accepts the sacrifice (dies to the Ariel Reaver) and the edge of the coin (both meet across time again to conclude the story).

I had no idea Blood Omen 2 was the Black sheep of the until like the mid 2010’s and I was shocked to say the least simply because it was the first of the series that I completed and the one that truly made me love Kain as a character.

Raziel: Did it trouble you when you ordered me into the abyss? Kain: Dude, you have no idea how much of a clusterfuck things are about to become because of that. So, in the long run, yes, it kind of did.

My favourite Tony Jay moment is actually a behind the scenes Soul Reaver 2 recording where Michael Bell implies he wet his underwear after Tony Jay says one of the Elder God's angry lines.

I wasn't expecting to see such interesting view on a seemingly secondary character in the LoK series this late in the game (no pun intended). Honestly I wish that instead of Fallout, the Witcher and other streaming series or movies inspired by "pop games"a serious story focused streaming series based on LoK was created, obviously with Amy Hening and other writers reworking the story to patch holes and fix any other issues created because of the complicated release cycles of the games and other issues.

Such a criminally underrated game. It's funny. I love the classic Final Fantasy games, and the Dragon Quest franchise. But there's just something about obscure JRPGs that always caught my attention. Skies Of Arcadia Legends was another one.

Miranda’s “favorite” party member and her name being a painful reminder of her own past. Rose is indeed one of my favorites from LOD and well developed. Rose literally had killed every incarnation of the moon child 101 times. That’s a lot of baby killing including the people influenced by the moon child. 😰
