There is absolutely no reason to believe the only reason the eels could get to them was because they slept on the ground. In fact there is no reason to assume the ells themselves, or just their larva, could not climb.

Funny semi-related aside: I just realized Worf has been a giant pain in the ass for three Klingon chancellors. K'mpec because Worf didn't go along with the whole "Blame Mogh" thing. Gowron for numerous reasons, the most notable of which was Worf killing him. Martok because Worf wouldn't shut up about his wedding to Jadzia and Alexander. And making him chancellor of course.

@@okonh0wp Yes it was in a novel where Kirk and company returned to Ceti Alpha 5 to pick up the crew Khan Stranded there and he, Spock and Bones discovered the shrine Khan had built for her there.

Her punishment for aiding Khan’s hostile takeover of the Enterprise is to endure an abusive relationship… probably. I might be wrong, but it’s just that Khan seems like the kinda guy who’d ‘love’ someone out of ownership rather than companionship. Sociopaths and narcissists are usually like that with friends and partners; their relationships aren’t as equal as the other may assume.

The lens cap was not the only place that Vaseline was used. McGivers' ass was most appreciative. Chekov's ass probably was not. Chekov: does my ass look like Lt. McGivers to you, Khan? I had the impression that Gowron didn’t actually want D’gor to get any more power/lands. So when Quark gave Gowron the opportunity to discommodate D’gor, he seized it.
