@sambassett5

Hi Sam, It's a great video! This is the first video I saw on your channel but keep it up! 3:07 was a great time in Frankfurt! I've got a question. Was the timing chip attached to your bib? I'm planning to run in Germany and I read before that some of the races don't provide you with a timing chip. Is that the case in Frankfurt of did you have chip on your bib? Thank you so much for your reply!
@sambassett5
@sambassett5 6 ай бұрын
Thank you! The timing chip is provided at the expo and is a small plastic disc to be attached to the laces of your shoe. I'm used to the timing chip being in the bib in the UK races and actually had forgotten to bring the separate timing chip on race day, only realising 10mins before the start! This meant dashing back to the expo hall for a replacement and joining a later wave , which added a bit of unnecessary stress on the day.

Good effort Sam and Andy! I remember those hard surfaced tracks well and the sore feet on my fourth and final day! My 4 day itinerary started around noon in Milngavie on day 1, after an early train from Crewe to Glasgow Central. I’d recommend the CityLink bus back from Fort William to Glasgow. It runs frequently and affords some great views along the way back through Glencoe, past Rannoch Moor and along the western edge of Loch Lomond. End of April or early May should avoid most of the midges. Atb, Andrew

The road is a lot harder impact on your joints, particularly on your back, hips and knees, whereas the treadmill offers a lot more cushioning and less impact. Perhaps try running on the trails or on grass to reduce your impact when running outside 👍

Shame on the DNF. Was part of it the fast pace of the race. I (John) rememebr running a 17.02 in a track and field league once and being lapped by Peter Riley, 2:14 marathon man (pre carbon shoes). Put me in my place. Do you have a track club near you you could join 2nd Claim to get a bit of practice at this? Our Club's track team folded last year as the average age waa about 63.
@sambassett5
@sambassett5 Жыл бұрын
Oh wow, that's a competitive race! I held my target pace for the first 4-5 laps but then started to slow considerably, to which point I was a distant last place and had been lapped too. That's a good suggestion and one I'll have a think about, currently the solo sessions aren't going too well and might be worth joining a good group for some of these too, along with attending my clubs track style session more regularly. Looks like you're both making a good start to your fast 5k summer!
