I have some cleome as well and I have some questions. How on earth do you keep them from absolutely taking over? I cut the seeds off every week but they just keep making more!

Wonderful trip down Christmas past. I remember and love them all, but the chandeliers were stunning and the use of the miscanthus tassels and stems were so beautiful and naturalistic.

Yula - I have been so interested in trying to propagate and save plants! This is very inspiring! I am trying to look up the varieties you mentioned here but the transcript isn’t spelling the names of them correctly. Can you list out the names of the plants you talked about? Do they also have common names? Thanks!!

I do the same thing! It started when I only had a balcony for growing plants in my apartment, and I composted some of the hay and poop from my guinea pigs. Worked great.

Your videos on Amaryllis are the best Ive come across. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. By the way, where does one find the glass bulb vase you used to help the rooting process?

I need to run out grab my dichondra from the greenhouse and bring it in. I did not know about collecting the seeds from it. I love growing my own plants from seeds and cuttings for all the plants I use in containers, such a budget-friendly way to fill tons for the garden.

Some pines like Aleppo pine, tend to shed almost 1/3 of their needles in summer instead of fall (propably due to heat stress and an adaptation to create mulch during and conserve water during Mediterranean summers)

Very good idea.Thanks Madam for sharing. I have a query... when the compost starts decomposing,will the level not go down?? And will the plant growing on top soil not have a gap below its grown roots ?Will this in end destabilize the nicely growing plant? PLZ PLZ PLZ ANSWER. THANK YOU.

I think you said you didnt like geraniums until recently?? I think youd love geranium phaeum. I bought mine off bluestone perennials. Flowers in shade and extremely low maintenance for me. It's a delicate understated flower.

I don’t lift any of my dahlias anymore. Zone 7a, Nassau county Long Island. Mulch well. Free up the center area in the spring. Very rarely lose a plant. Last winter, I lost one of my verronne’s obsidians. That was all. You’re kind for leaving the fully opened dahlias for the bees. My neighbors have mosquito foggers on contract who come every other week and spray pesticides out of backpack blowers that look just like the gas powered leaf blowers. Brings a tear to my eye. We only had one monarch butterfly all this summer. Nobody cares.

Thanks for showing how to harvest dichondra seeds. I use it as a groundcover in two separate places and it returns each spring. I'm not sure whether it is surviving winter or reseeding. Zone 7B/8A.

I brought in a plectranthus to overwinter , what i thought were seeds turned out to be caterpillar poop 😂. When i saw all of the black droppings under my dichondra , i assumed they were also poop and vacuumed them up! Now i realize they were seeds! Thank you Yulia for all of your useful content ! ❤

Awesome video. I love learning how to save seeds. Great tips. My dichondra looked so good this fall, in the ground, I am hoping it survives the winter. But next year, I will certainly look for the seeds.

I love all of them! I was planning on looking back on your holiday decorating and now I don’t have to…you summarized it all for us! Actually I probably will eventually rewatch many of them as your videos are so relaxing as well as informative. I am currently experimenting with 6 dried schuberti that I grew for the first time this past year….thanks to you and Danielle from Northlawn Flower Farm. Happy Holidays. Love the dog by the tree!

Yulia, I love your channel!! Thank you for all the wonderful videos you have made which are so interesting, helpful and unique. I recently re-watched the bulb forcing video and then ordered hyacinths to try. You inspire us! I'm wondering if the Dichondra seeds can be winter-sown in milk jugs and if you use this plant primarily in containers? Love your inspiration, kindness and beautifully made content. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year😘🌲

You can also scatter through some chicken poo/manure, etc. Not a lot, but a scattering over each layer really helps the process as it supplies the carbon dioxide that gets used up by the wood chips/carbon source.

Regarding insect control, I spray raid on the soil of my lemon tree and wipe it on the pot. Is that wrong? It works. I figured there’s no beneficial insects in my house that could be hurt.
@ydoyougarden7 күн бұрын
Hmm, I wouldn’t use raid if I was expecting to harvest from the plant. Insecticidal soap is mild and effective

Hi Yulia. I was able to collect Dichondra seeds last year. I will be sowing them very soon. I wondered if you have any fungus gnats in your basement where you are overwintering plants. So fungus gnats have not been an issue for you then? I like starting plants from seed indoors but I always worry about overwintering plants indoors because of bugs.
@ydoyougarden7 күн бұрын
None in the basement as I keep things dry. Plant room is another story 😂 I tend to overwater there because my hands are itchy to ‘help the plants grow’

I always enjoy your videos. I am overwintering some plants in the garage and under growlights. Two years ago, I brought in a Baby Blue eucalyptus in a big pot that I had started from seed and all the leaves came off. Last winter, I left it in our unheated garage by the window and it did great and didn't shed leaves. Right now, I have a gorgeous blooming Kangaroo Paw plant in my garage by the window. I also have pots of pansies in the garage and some salvias that are not hardy here to overwinter. Inside I have pentas blooming under lights as well as new guinea impatiens, coleus and heliotrope. I also dug out some lisianthus in October that I had grown from seed and have them thriving under the lights. My 2025 seed starting begins on January 1st. I am growing 9 varieties of lisianthus this year. They are not difficult to grow but constant vigilance is required!

Hi Yulia 👋 I am bought some transcending plant this summer to grow in my shade garden also! My vet had the purple plants and I took cuttings of those also for more plants 😂 My basement is full of plants including dichondra plants that I pulled from the hospital where my hubs is getting chemo. They had reseeded all over the garden beds and the staffers didn't care if I took them. Free!!!!
