Your garden is always such an inspiration. I am north of you and find that ‘Blue Fortune’ rarely makes it through the winter. It’s still a favourite and I guess I will need to think of it more as an annual. Love the native Valerian, the echinacea tinged with green… the list goes on.

I ❤️ your gardens and videos, Yuliya! I have purchased several plants based on your favorites. I've lost some (mostly annuals) due to not getting them planted immediately. I hope my Culver's root survives, I just need to clear the planned spot of gigantic weeds first. My elephant ear corms arrived later than I would have liked and still haven't been planted. At this point, I'll try potting them and treat as houseplants over winter. Minnesota growing season is so short. I was successful keeping an ivy geranium in the pot, in my house over winter. Cut off leggy stems and doubled my plants. I won't try the paper bag method ever again. Gardening is experimenting. Gardens are never finished. You've given me some ideas for a corner along neighbors' chain link fence. I have a 'Candy Corn' spirea and wondered if I should get more (a trio) or low conifors or, now, phlox or Russian sage. This SW area is behind an awesome 'Virtual Violet' lilac and I can't wait to smell next year's blooms. So fragrant.

With several of the plants you showed us, you called their latin names. I know common names can be different based on different locals, but I'd love to hear the common names so I can ask about them at nurseries in my area. I really enjoy your beautiful garden and your collection of unusual plants. I live in the mid-south, zone 8a where the heat and humidity is a yearly problem making so many of the plants that can be grown in zone 8a where the humidity is lower, impossible to grow here. Each area has its own set of issues, I guess.

I started Asclepias verticillata from seed, hopefully it starts flowering next year. I hate it that I can't find Little Joe Pye weed or pink Veronicastrum seeds anywhere. I'm not in the US, so getting a live plant is a no go. You should take a look at Echinacea paradoxa, amazing plant. Flowers much earlier than regular Echinacea, and has tall sturdy stalks with large yellow flowers. Flowers in the second year.Also Penstemon grandiflorus, an amazing plant.

Very nice. You might replace that "weedy" non-native penisetum with some Carex haydenii, Carex sprengelii, or even Carex muskingumensis. Depending on your site, there are a lot of native plants that'll give you a similar look without being too weedy or invasive. There's even a Switch Grass cultivar that has almost exactly that same weeping look, Panicum virgatum 'Cape Breeze'. As a native enthusiast, I think Cape Breeze is something I need to add to my garden...
@ydoyougarden
@ydoyougarden 5 ай бұрын
Planted many Cape Breeze on my other projects and love them, but they tend to flop in more shade like I have here. I am thinking bottlebrush instead, such a cool shade grass 😊
@threeriversforge1997
@threeriversforge1997 5 ай бұрын
@@ydoyougarden I've not yet seen any Cape Breeze in person, not of any size anyhow. I think I might like it as a hedge along my hell strip, but I'm not entirely sold on the idea because I just don't like the idea of the hedge disappearing every spring when I cut down the dead growth. Maybe a hedge of Yaupon holly....
