I've heard that goatmilk has less fat than cows milk and then the very next video says the exact opposite 🤔 which is it really?

None of the reasons except down the drain are "wastes" they are all good reasons for extra milk. Milk is incredibly effective for gardens and increasing protein for your chickens. And it does wonders for your pets. Feed them milk and water h your cat or dog food bill drop.

Hey look, I agree with you totally but I don’t think it’s the best option for everybody. People want milk, but they don’t want the time investment or the abundance and what to do with all of the extra time investment for figuring out what to do with the extra milk. And as much as I think everybody can do it the more I communicate with others who want to Homestead or bring milk on their own properties. The other can’t because their property isn’t suitable for a cow or they just won’t invest the time into them.

goats are too much parasite overload. And they have to be fenced in, with a REAL fence because they are escape artists.

She also had really bad habits of daytime tv garbage and sitting in the same spot on the couch till it made the floor warp. Horrible, people just buy your milk, these “cows” are absolutely useless.

Your goats produce good tasting milk because you have Nubian goats, and, probably, you don't have a male goat around producing pheromones to stimulate musk production by those females.

You didn't mention the fact that ND butterfat is between 7% and 10%, whereas the Nubian is at 5%. So even though the Nubian IS the highest butterfat producer of the larger breeds, overall, the ND still is top dog.

We have been dairy goat farmers for 20 years. All that you said, I can confirm. This video was fair and balanced. I would add five advantages of dairy goats. (1) The cost of mortality: Most families cannot actually make use of more than one cow's milk at a time. But you can make use of 3, 4, or 5 dairy goats at a time. Say you purchase a good dairy cow for $1500. If she gets sick, you MUST call in the vet to treat her, because the cost of you making a mistake with her is $1500-2000! But if one of your five dairy goats gets sick, you can try to treat her yourself. If you fail, you are only out, say, $200-400 when she dies. (2) Dry time: With dairy animals there is usually a dry-time for them, depending on your philosophy of how hard you want to push them. If you only have one dairy cow, then you are getting zero milk during her dry time. But if you have 3-4 dairy goats, you can stagger their dry times, so that if you have one dry doe, then you are still getting milk from your other 2-3 milking does. (3) Safety around children: A cow is a large animal. You need to be really careful with small children around a cow. But a polled dairy goat is a much smaller animal. They are not 100% safe around children; I mean they can use their head to butt a child, so be careful. But a doe is maybe 80-150 pounds in size. If she steps on a child's toes, or even the child falls and is stepped on, well, it's a much lighter injury than from a 1,000 pound cow. (4) Transportation: You may NEVER need to transport your cow or goat off your farm. But if you do, it's much easier to transport a goat than a cow. We've even put goats in the back bed of our family mini-van (on tarps, with a child back there calming them down). But a cow needs to go into a stock trailer that you haul behind a truck. (5) Milk variety: With one dairy cow, you get one kind of milk, whatever she gives. With four dairy goats you can have a variety. Our Saanen gives a large volume of milk, but it's got lower milk-fat content. Our Nigerian Dwarfs give less milk, but it's quite sweet and creamy, with high milk-fat content. Our Lamanchas give milk right in the middle of the those two other breeds. So, we use the different kinds of milk for different purposes, e.g. baking, ice-cream, kefir, drinking, etc

But cows are social animals. Is it fair to keep one alone?
@LittleFarmLand
@LittleFarmLand 9 күн бұрын
Well, the answer is a little bit more nuanced than just a yes or no. Let’s take an alpaca. For example, they are highly social and companion based, and they can actually get sick and die from loneliness. Although a cow was social and I heard animal they can easily adapt. I’ve seen cows that can thrive completely fine as individual animals, and this is also been a historical reality.

What ever it is... the goat milk is stronger somehow and more effective as food. I have heard a bunch of people who managed to make their skinny and mostly ill child strong and healthy. Then we tried it with our boy and experienced exactly the same positive change (immunity to seasonal illnesses, physical look and strength and everything else that goes with a good health).

I purchased a retired broodmare from a breeder in Oct 2023, she stated she hadn't been with a stud at all. Mid march rolled around and she started bagging up. Turns out their stud HAD gotten into the pasture with the mares but 'she thought he didnt get anybody'..... So yup, I got a free foal out of the deal. However, i felt bad cause she was on the thin side all winter and I couldn't figure out why! Turns out...she was growing a baby. My advice, never take anybody at their word. Do your own blood draws or ultrasounds to confirm for yourself!!!

Sorry but thats not true. Every goat ive milked the cream separate from the milk. But rather then the layer being two inches thick it more like quart inch think However most have been meat goats like Boar, Nubians amd that other one. No pygmy or small goats. And yes. Nubian are also a milk goat.

Hey, I totally agree with you if you’re not buying it fresh. If you can raise your own goats or buy it as absolutely fresh as possible I don’t agree lol fresh goats milk from a reputable farm that has great handling practices that is unpasteurized will not taste disgusting . And it actually does taste amazing and coffee 😂. Just so you know, I’m somebody who absolutely hates the taste of gaudiness in my milk, so it means a lot when I actually say good milk from a good place that is fresh tastes amazing.

So if someone had a full open section of prairie land, do you really think k they would try to have 640 cattle total I. It, I kinda doubt it, but I dont know. Someone that's a rancher, is this realistic, as a peak efficacy kinda thing
@LittleFarmLand
@LittleFarmLand 22 күн бұрын
It really depends on how you are managing the land. I’m not a rancher and I don’t have experience on large scale like that, but I do have a lot of friends who are there is a lot to be said about high density grazing with well managed rotational grazing. this is not very common in the industry are large and it’s not what I see in Tennessee in the industry are large and it’s not what I see in Tennessee very much very much. What I see is overgrazed 50 acre plots filled to the brim without rotational grazing. You can almost tell the pastures are high stressed because of the buttercups that pop up. Rotational grazing is a lot more work and planning but higher pay off in the end.
