You should take nattokinase/lumbrokinase if you sit a long time. I take it daily on an empty stomach with serrapeptase and I've noticed great daily improvement.

Robinsons do not fly in the traditional rotary wing sense. They are so ugly that the earth pushes them up and away. My biggest issue with the Robinson other than mast bumping is that extremely stupid looking and jinky cyclic yoke. If I had to give up flying the 430, I'd grab an gyrocopter. Way cheaper, way more fun.

I've never been in either one. The only helicopter I ever rode in was a Bell UH-1 (Huey) when I was in Jr. High School in 1975.

I have one question about autorotation tehnique. Why on some helicopters you pitch up a lot in the flare, and then go to flat position (usually on bigger helicopters, like Blackhawk), and on same (smaller helicopters, like h125) you have smaller, almost constant pith up angle during the whole autorotation ?

I wouldn't describe aerospace manufacturing as higher quality than modern automotive manufacturing, but it has to maintain a safe level of quality despite much lower production volumes. This can be challenging, when the budget available for investing in tooling and process development is much smaller. The volumes are somewhere between an Italian sports car, and a hand-built race car.

I assume you might fly for 1-2 hours, be on standby for 1-2 hours waiting for a load, weather change etc. So maybe you work 4 hours in a 8-12 hour period. The rest of the time you are on standby, waiting for a load and not being paid.

Devin, For the HAA pilot positions, most are 7 on 7 off either day or night. Where you’re currently working, if you lived close to base, could you go home after that day/night shift and come back in the morning/night for the next? I’m thinking about the career transition, but being home with family is important.

A Great-Horned Owl has excellent night vision but cannot move its eyes in their sockets but can move its neck 270 degrees like Linda Blair in the Exorcist. Also, if the Great-Horned Owl was the size of a human, its eyes would be the size of oranges. So maybe nature is only a 90-degree head-turn ahead of us. FYI.

I really can’t find a straight answer , on your private pilot helicopter written test , do you only have weight and balance question pertaining to helicopters , or is it all combined ?

This is a very specific question but I just want to get a full, clear picture of what the role is like! During the “down time” between flights, what do you do? Are you allowed to read/hang out/etc or is it something more specific, like reviewing information?

I passed my helicopter checkride with an examiner who was a former Vietnam pilot and he was impressed. He told my friends that I'll make a great helicopter pilot. That sure helped my ego because 2 years before that, it took me two tries to pass my IFR checkride (i had food poisoning the night before the first one though and had no sleep).

They autorotate like a streamlined anvil, with very slight deceleration duing the flare. The mixture knob is TOO CLOSE to the carb-heat. There's hardly ANY load-feel on the controls.

Got my inst and about to finish my Com. I agree about the Go Pro and would add: 1) Microsoft flight Sim type program... plus 2) heli flight simulation controllers - The controls cost about $ 1200 that's about 2 flight in real life, and you can practice everything as much as you want with the physical controls plus build muscle memory. They won't be perfect, but they help a ton. Plus, you can practice IFR later on as well and fly in different helis to get used to different cockpits, switches and controls. I got a plastic controller for about $500 but I would recommend the metal designs. They are more durable and more realistic. Like the Apache R44 one might be nice. 3) about Bose A20s - maybe after getting your pvt d get these if trying to save money. Id say flight controls are much more helpful. A20s are great unless you batteries die then they are noisy as all heck. Make sure to use new batteries before a solo flight and keep accessible spare batteries on you just in case. The noise gets VERY fatigue inducing very quickly otherwise. Hard to think straight after a while. Learned my lesson. :) Clark's are good for noise but pinch your head more so if you are prone to headaches, the A 20s may save the day. See if someone from your school will let you borrow them for a flight to test them out. Best wishes to anyone reading this! You've got this!!

I Absolutely agree and recommend getting your own Go Pro. When I started recording my flights, it was so valuable going over my flight training on the ground. I could review advice from my CFI, review procedures to stay resh and I progressed a lot quicker, with less flights. Plus, if I took a long break between flights, watching some of these before flying again was a much more affordable refresher. Bottom line, it saves money. Great recommendation.

Not a pilot, just one of the guys that sits in the back and annoys the nurse here. Look into a different helmet, Alpha Eagle, Gallet, EVO (my choice) all will be lighter and more comfortable, you can get A20’s in almost any of them and get it setup perfect for you.
