I'm sure the guys at the garage will really appreciate this vid Dom! I have already had the alternator regulator, and belt changed on my 3.2 so hoping my alternator will last a bit longer!! Anyway, well done it looks like a stupidly big job.

Brilliant Dom hope I never need to do this job but if I do it's great to have this help on film 👍

As long as it helps one person that's enough for me, often the regulator is the failure point, but you know what its like.... while your there haha

It's a job I need to do, my battery doesn't die but its sluggish in the morning, batteries been replaced, checked for drain. It's the alternator regulator that fails, easy to change once you've removed it and alot cheaper than replacing the alternator. Cheers Dom.👍

100% mate, but my alternator bracket was damaged and i do a lot of long trips so bit the bullet and bought a new one for piece of mind :)

Looking forward to this! As we know all too well from the Oil pressure sensor issue, doing it from below as recommended in the manuals was impossible! Front bumper off wins every time! 👍

Oddly enough I had my slam panel off this weekend too, but only as I was replacing a dodgy fan, drilling a snapped bolt out & fitting a wellycooler 😅 Great watch as usual Dom - my alternator is still playing up a bit (after changing the pulley) so I think I'm going to swap the regulator too, but that's definitely a lot easier on a 225 than a 3.6!
@TheParrottBros4 ай бұрын
@@DanParratt TT’s and fans, a never ending battle haha. I snapped a bolt when I swapped mine out too. Nightmare. Yes much more straight forward in the 225 haha

I had to replace my alternator around 3 months back, at 90k miles on the clock ...I had the red battery light coming on and off...got the charging performance checked and was hovering around 11.8 . After looking at the space available around it, I paid a VAG guy to tackle it with a new aux belt..haha

Id say you made the right choice, sometimes its worth just paying the right people to do the job, less fuss and downtime

Done this job twice on my 3.2, attacking from the top is definitely the best method. Probably pulled the front slampanel close to ten times now so can do it with my eyes closed 🤣 3.2 life… Also that ac compressor bolt is ridiculous, encountered the exact same situation this summer… Ps you don’t have to pull the lights, you can leave them attached to the slampanel = less body lines adjustment pain when the job is done 😉
@TheParrottBros4 ай бұрын
I like to have them out the way and have the adjustments set to a fine art as replaced them so many times hahaha, know what you mean though i can have a tt in bits in like 20 mins flat
