What was the powder called
@markyberg93923 ай бұрын
I came across your video and think it’s fantastic I have one or two sweaters that need repair. My question is would I be able to use some fusing tape instead of the powder as I don’t need an entire container?
@QuiltersGuide3 ай бұрын
Its not advised, as fusing tape tends to be a lot thicker than the powder and will be visible. However the powder can be used for a lot of other things as well. Such as hemming, basting and surface embeleshments

I did this and it looks like a stain, it’s hard like a piece of gum stuck in the fabric!

you used to much powder. Its always best to practice this technique on something you don't care about before working on something that may be expensive always work from the wrong side of the garment and don't forget to use a patch as that is what holds everything together. You may be able to start over by reheating the patch and while it is warm pull the whole repair off

@QuiltersGuide Жыл бұрын
You have managed to get some powder on the front. Make sure that your sheet does not have any residue on it. It is sometimes easier to prefuse your patch that way the powder will be already melted to the patch and you won't have any excess powder on the garment

Hi Beryl! I was wondering: are the fiberglass sheets absolutely necessary? Or are there other "barriers" we could use between the iron and the powder patch?
@QuiltersGuide Жыл бұрын
the sheets are absolutely necessary for the best use of the product, they prevent the high heat of the iron from damaging the fabric you are working on especially synthetic fabrics

Beryl, my moth holes are on the sport coat sleeve, right above the wrist area. Do you have any suggestions on how to get to the holes to repair? Thanks for the video and I'm looking forward to trying.
@QuiltersGuide2 жыл бұрын
Assuming that the coat has a lining, you would either need to unpick the stitching or cut the lining so get to the wrong side of the fabric. This type of repair has to be done from the wrong side

BO-NASH Fuse-it is the name of the product and can be found at www.bonash.com
@jeliarra2 жыл бұрын
I bought this product, still haven't used it for I have a problem. A nickel size hole was made in a comforter, I cannot fuse a patch from the back side as the top fabric is attached to a bottom layer with a filling layer within the bottom and top of the comforter. Thought of cutting a small piece of the pressing sheet to place inside of the comforter, but if the fusing works, that sheet will forever remain inside of the comforter; would this be a problem with washing the comforter later? EDIT: If you're skeptical about purchasing, if the website is safe, I can verify that it is. I was sent a confirmation email right after purchase, sent a follow up email a day or so later informing that product had been sent and about a week later I received it. In less than two weeks here in the U.S.
@QuiltersGuide2 жыл бұрын
You don't need to put the sheet inside the comforter. Here is the video on how to do that type of repair kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2madIOcmceAb8k
