I don't think the Labour party are trying to placate you or led by donkeys; purely UKIP/Tories. I can understand your cynicism and you're probably right about this being a twitter event rather than aimed at the people of Clacton, but perhaps led by donkeys are rather trying to influence the people who see the sponge bob dangling on BBC Question Time every week. This doesn't seem a pointless thing to do: even though the existing situation seems as bad as it can get, things can always get worse and they definitely will if Farage is elected.

If they're not trying to placate people like him, why don't they go as hard on the anti-migrant rhetoric and racism as Reform and the Tories?
@robmaslen6446Күн бұрын
There is pretty much no difference between Starmer's Labour and the other two on their treatment of asylum seekers. The last thing I heard them come out with was some guff about using anti-terrorist tactics on the small boats. They are constantly on the same ground as UKIP on the issue and never talk about the benefits of immigration to this country or our responsibility towards asylum seekers under international law. Fundamentally they just think being a heartless racist is good politics and they seem to relish the role.
@TheYopogoКүн бұрын
@@robmaslen6446 Indeed. They walk the walk on anti-immigration policy. They do not, however, talk the talk in terms of open rhetoric to quite the same extent.

Obviously the people that voted for Starmer are the people of Holborn and St Pancras ward. That's about 20 Thousand people. That's because we're not america and never were? We don't vote for the head of state indirectly like they do, because we have universal suffrage and the head of state is Charles III, no. Here in England, where English and america was invented, we vote for a party based on the manifesto, we then vote for our local MP based on their performance, which, Sir Starmer is actually a terrible local MP, hence his reduced majority, but that also because he's lost the Muslim vote there. The executive here is self-selecting, like with the judiciary, but at least it keeps them independent. The only ones that pretend this is america are the tories, because they were upset at how Brown got to be PM, even though that's our system and we did not get to vote for John Major when he got made PM either, because PM is not head of state and anyway, we're not america. Same reason we still use the verb criticise and not the noun critique wrong, like you do, but I guess that american cultural slave grip must be really strong on your mind. Hard to take your comments verry seriously about our politics when you don't even understand our system. Yes, there is anger in the nation, if only people could articulate it properly, instead of just repeating what Putin's trolls told them to think. Remember the tory Russian straw donor scandal, where we found out that the russians own the tory party? The people were so apathetic that they did not care and voted tory anyway. The same with Farage's constituents, and anyway, they would not want to prove whatever metropolitan elite telling them that right by agreeing with them, even though Farage is also one of those metropolitan elites as well, who will get rid of the NHS. So even your causation for why that is is wrong. Learn some basic civics, we are not america and never were, obviously if you don't like it, you can go back to america, you talk like them most of the time, so it's nearly a done job anyway.

This pedantry always remind me of the old thing about knowledge and wisdom. Being technically correct doesn't always mean you make any bloody sense in reality.
@TheYopogo2 күн бұрын
The left-independent candidate in Starmer's constituency was Andrew Feinstein. Not a Muslim but a Jewish man, who has left wing and anti-Genocide convictions. I'm sure some of the people who voted for him will have been Muslim, and some will have been not Muslim. I don't think it's fair to characterise his impressive grassroots campaign as simply Starmer "losing the Muslim vote". And everybody knows that, in our system, you don't *directly* vote for Prime Minister (who is the Head of the Government and of the Executive Branch, just like the American President) But the Prime Minister is basically determined by which party gets the most seats in the House of Commons at a general election. So, who you vote for is directly for your local MP, but it's obviously got a major influence on who becomes Prime Minister. When people consider that angle when deciding who to vote for, they're not mad. They're not stupid. They're being perfectly reasonable and sensible. Denying this, and being extremely condescending whilst doing so, is the height of pointless, ignorant pedantry. And, since you're into pedantry, it shouldn't be "Sir Starmer". With Knighthoods you use the first name, so: "Sir Keir"

26:30 bad analysis. you cannot negotiate with Putin if he will never respect any agreement he signs. we've done this multiple times and Putin literally always ignores whatever agreement he made and continues trying to rebuild the Russian Empire. Putin already violated multiple security agreements Russia made with Ukraine by invading it twice, how many more times do we need to make this same mistake? Zelensky rose to prominence in Ukrainian politics by urging Ukraine negotiate with Putin after 2014, we can see how far that attitude got him.

A lot of american English in this one for no reason, like with "critique", the noun instead of the verb criticise, it's ok, we're not scared of words with hard and soft C's in them, we're English. The other one is "molly". I grew up in Camden, went drinking in Soho all the time, we obviously never, ever tried to get E, as we call it on the streets of Soho, it's better to bring your own, because you get ripped off there, so you must be from the Home Counties. Not sure where this is going, but please pick a dialect and stick to it.

'Being unaware' is a common excuse politicians use when being presented with facts which show them up. Who remembers Matt Hancock being told statistics referring to the high level of vaccine injuries and his saying 'Well I haven't seen them" over and over again? There are numerous other examples. Farage, love him or hate him, is one of a very small group of politicians who answer questions unambiguously.

The 2024 U.S. election was about a corrupt political class and all its media + tentacles. Not to mention disparity in wealth and the foreign policy of that corrupt political class. All issues that Trump spoke to and Harris didn't. Whether Trump will do anything about them is another matter. Interestingly, men of colour have recognised the conspicuous societal demonisation of ordinary white men and blue collar workers of any ethnicity and are not inclined to go along with it and for the most part, call it out for what it is. This has been a trend since the previous election, something the democrats and even traditional left wing journalists failed to recognise or meaningfully articulate despite obvious voting trends. Indeed, Republicans are now seen as the party of the working man. Hardly something the Republicans cultivated but it does prove just how low the bar has become for that rather large block of the electorate. Who's fault is that? Boiled down, Trump appeals to men and women who like men, regardless of other distinguishing features. Harris not so much.
