this may be a stupid question, but do you really need the short hub ?? or can i do it without
@Piersw19 күн бұрын
just finished the video and what you said at the end would indicate you dont need one or am i wrong ?
@zaincars13 күн бұрын
So with my car I didn't need a short hub as originally my mx5 came with a MOMO steering wheel from the factory, but I replaced it with a short hub to push the steering wheel further away as with a quick release it would be too close and uncomfortable to drive. If you have any other questions feel free to ask

.) The constant tension OEM hose clamps are fine and always preferable to worm clamps, especially cheap worm clamps. Thermal expansion is a thing and they incorporate this. Worm clamps - unless you go specialty stuff worm clamps with included springs to compensate for expansion - are a downgrade. They're also very easy to work with or remove if using the correct tools. Such cheap chinese hose clamp pliers are a couple $/€/GBP and should be in your toolset. :) .) Silicone hoses are always more prone to leaking than quality rubber. Yes they're more durable when exposed to heat or oil but that comes at a price. They're cheaper to buy and make though.

My car has the stock ones but they sound terrible, would you recommend these or some standard smaller circle ones?
@zaincars13 күн бұрын
So the speakers I have used have unfortunately not held up as well as hoped, if you prefer small circle ones would be better. I think you need to remove the foam and make sure they are small enough to fit two in there side by side, something like pioneer ones should be good, instead of shaping the plastic holders you can remove them
@smokeya53h13Ай бұрын
I relocated my charcoal canister while installing the turbo on my NA8. I initially just removed it the same as you have done, however I could smell raw fuel in the engine bay sometimes, which was a bit off putting. The intercooler piping route required the removal of my washer bottle, which was in the left side of the front bumper. I ended up fitting the charcoal canister with the intercooler piping in place of the factory washer bottle. I replaced the charcoal in the canister with fresh pellets used for aquariums and piped the fuel vapors through the fitting at the base of the canister. There is a little pod filter at the top of the canister to allow the fuel tank to vent. An aftermarket washer bottle was fitted where the canister had been and I wired in an aftermarket inline pump to wash the windscreen.
@zaincarsАй бұрын
Ah that’s a good way of keeping the charcoal canister, I think mine was blocked or something was wrong with it as when it was I had a slight fuel smell which strangely has gone less since removing the canister. But if the smell comes back I might relocate it
@R3ddyygАй бұрын
It's just vapour, and you could smell it because the pipe literally vents in the wheel well, it's completely safe but a bit annoying. I "deleted" it on my NBFL because it looked ugly and i genuenly don't care about the smell, when i park my car i unscrew my fuel cap and release the pressure like that and it doesn't smell as bad
@milescarter7803Ай бұрын
Please don't do this on a street driven car in an emissions controlled area unless you want to be committing a crime. I hope the next video shows relocating the canister to another area on the car. I am sure you can relocate it under the car or hide it in the wing, and likely the valve could tuck behind the fusebox out of sight as well.
@kotuu3Ай бұрын
crime is not the case here, when you don't have EVAP, under temperature gas expands and shrinks, just like any liquid, what happens when pressure is too high or too low and fuel system is sealed? have you ever seen videos of cars spitting fuel thru fill hole? yeah, that's what happens, it can also happen when you overfill car and EVAP is drowned
@omgf0wtfАй бұрын

Between the sawing and the sewing, you really showed some perseverance! I rekon that you could improve your pipe a bit with securing the ends of it better. Maybe 3d print some things that slip over the pipe ends. One to clip or clamp over the roll bar at the back and one that uses the screws at the front of the top. Just a thought. Good job mate! ..Banana
@zaincarsАй бұрын
That would be a good idea. Originally i wanted to make a bracket using the mounting holes of the mirror but making the part would be too complex to make strong. 3D printing would be good when the pipe feels more loose but currently its still a snug fit.

If you have an NA Miata (MX-5 Mk I) that is earlier than late 1996 production, the headrest speakers are also wired completely incorrectly to work with a weird quirk of the factory head unit. If you have an aftermarket stereo, you really need to trace out all the headrest speaker wiring and rewire the whole thing. If you don’t it’ll all sound like crap, because, among other things, the speakers are wired out of phase with each other.
@zaincars Жыл бұрын

So I assume you can rewire the plug underneath the seat which would be a lot easier or redo the connectors in the seat. Best to check how the audio comes from the speakers first to make sure they are wrong before rewiring, forums are your best friend for advice.
@marculetzc1366 Жыл бұрын
@@jasongonzazlez4349when upgrading speakers it would be a good idea to redo wires in general. I plan on installing an amp, front speakers and maybe just 1 speaker / headrest? Idk depends if i find them cheap or not. But i will redo the wiring. Its 30 years old after all and the wires are tiny. I dont thing they could handle something like 60 watts rms
