This hits so different when you understand what Liquidity is, if you don't have incentives to save, say in a typical bank's savings account with a 0% interest rate adding to your account every year, you would lose most of your money in a few decades due to inflation, so its much better to spend it now or invest it now, and it makes loans look like better investments than a typical stock, as if they can get a loan with no interest, and give a loan with 3% they will get that solid 3% after taxes because they don't need to pay interest toward their depositors. Stopping the risky behavior and holding inflation in check are the main reasons to increase interest rates, though honestly I don't understand how it affects inflation yet.
