Bloody hell, what they can do instead is to fix their damn service and stop increasing the transport fees rather than patrol trains just to fine people for eating a sweet...
@adxjack12 жыл бұрын
Remind me of my elementary primary school days. Teacher said you not suppose to eat sweets in class. Thats the sad reflection of the top down authority in Singapore. Citizens practically treated like kids. SMRT and Govt,clear up your own mess before telling us where and what not to eat and do.
@nchunyiu11 жыл бұрын
Seriously. The point of banning food consumption is because in the past, people who consume food in the MRT have dirtied the train. If commuters are more responsible, there would not be a need to have a ban on food cunsumption. I think it is fine as long as the commuter does not dirty the train.
@Horus21jock13 жыл бұрын
This woman is taking it so well, omg... please SMRT, wake up your idea. The sweet is staying in her mouth my goodness.
@SuccessforLifester5 жыл бұрын
Last week I just told a young man next to me softly that he cannot eat in the MRT. He was eating bread. Anyway he continued to finish it. The MRT staff should walk down the MRT to do such enforcements.
@urfriend8811 жыл бұрын
I think everybody should take note of this and find one day all eat sweet in SMRT trains all together, to protest for the lady in silence, like this the enforcement jerks can't enforce and write the bills to everyone together also. One of the reasons i left Singapore is because some rules are enforced to the point of absurdity.
@sumimimi012 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, since the staffs are finding ppl for eating sweets, we should find SMRT for being responsible for making the MRT to break down so many times
@DenizenofSBWR12 жыл бұрын
What about fining those inconsiderate people who stand and block people exiting the mrt?? What about sending staff to tell people to move aside and let people exit the train first?? price increase , breakdown increase , standard of service decrease ...

SMRT should put more effort into improving their train systems rather than trivial matters like this.

honestly feel that the staion master was forced to impose the fine on the commuter under the watchful eye of the media. My guess is that this was probably to closest thing to "eating on the train" the crew got while covering the story. Can't expect him to say "oh sweets is ok" on a video watched by many! Investigative reporting puts people in a spot, and he has to do his job to deter people from eating openly on the train On a normal basis, SMRT would definitely close one eye and you know it.

One time I was on the way to school, took a sip of plain water and the staff came up to me and angrily said I did it on purpose and asked if I want her to call up my school. I should have said go ahead and call. My school will think she is crazy. Imagine her saying this student was drinking water in mrt 😂

Dick move SMRT.... Although there are rules in place, sometimes we have to use our personal judgement and not just be block heads that follow the rules behind the curtains it being a S.O.P In this case the SMRT staff should have evaluated the according to the needs of their customer. This is really poor customer service on the part of SMRT given that the women is a paying customer and MRT services are not a free service in SG. SMRT could have at the very least defined the boundaries of "Food and Drinks" so as to prevent such disgraceful (to the level of customer service provided by our world class transport system) events from every arising in the future

Yes, you will be liable for a fine if you eat/drink in trains/stations without medical reasons, but health is always top priority. Before fining a suspected individual, ask whether he/she is feeling unwell. This is a more acceptable approach. If you disagree with me I have no reason to say anything but I can only say that you are clearly oblivious to the effects of the restriction.

What is SMRT trying to achieve with this No Eating/Drinking rule? The purpose is to keep the trains clean right? So why not just institute a No Littering rule? If I can drink or eat or suck a sweet without dirtying or littering why not? This is the kind of paternal government mentality that treats everyone like kids that I find so insulting.

The rational of not allowing drinking or eating on the trains is to ensure a clean environment for commuters. So I think it's perfectly all right to drink plain water or chew on a sweet. Anyway to SMRT, if you don't let us to even have plain water in the trains, then will you guys be responsible someone faint on the trains?!
