I know this video is old, but the issue is with the cord/wiring. The inside of the wire has worn down. Bending it causes wires to touch when they shouldn't. Similar to wired headphones losing sound in one side, only working when the cable is bent. The cable/wires need to be replaced. This is an easy fix for someone who knows how to repair electronics. If you don't have the knowledge, you should find a repair person instead or learn how to diy (with proper safety) :3

You're supposed to actually Bond the wrong side to the wrong side of the fabric first then cut the applique shape .. girl you cause yourself a bunch of grief for no reason

Thank you for this video! I bought my first featherweight two days ago from FB marketplace. I have zero experience with these machines, but always wanted one to use as a travel machine. This was a birthday gift to myself. 😊

What do I do if my "Feed dog position" doesn't switch? Also the needle doesn't move, is that related?

Instead of waiting 5 hours i just used another bowl of hot water to heat the outside of the jar as well. Now you have hot water on the outside and inside of the jar. Within 30 minutes everything is done by pouring the water into bottle that i can throw away after it becomes hard.

Desculpe a minha pergunta em português. Não entendo muito bem em inglês. Tenho uma singer 128 k (manual), você acha que esse acessório pode ser compatível com ela? Thanks

I'm just getting back into machine sewing as a somety-something, having done a bit of sewing as a kid and as a teenager. I bought my machine a few years ago, but have only recently gotten into using it. It's a modern Singer - not a super-expensive model - and when sewing the widest zig-zag stitch (in the program - it's computerised) it is skipping stitches and getting jammed up. So I figured it needs some adjustment. I'm an engineer and an avid-DIYer, so I knew when it came time to service or adjust the machine I'd be watching YT videos to learn how to do it. I had this idea from my childhood use of my mom's machine (and other things I read) that sewing machine timing was something super-complicated that needed a PhD borrowed from the Hadron Collider to fix. But in fact it's all really quite simple. Just look how this chap has fixed his lovely spouse's secondhand machine in a matter of minutes. I've also got an issue where the machine works well with standard thickness thread, but when I use a 40 weight thread I start getting mayhem down below in the bobbin department. No euphemism intended. From what I've watched this evening I think it's a problem with the clearance between the hook and needle or the clearance between the shuttle-driver and the hook component. Yesterday I wouldn't have had a clue what was going on, but today I've discovered that with a little learning and patience I can identify problems with my sewing machine and fix them myself. If you're reading this and wondering if you have what it takes to adjust/service your own machine: well, if you are able to sew garments or other projects, you definitely have the skills to fix your own machine without taking it to a repair shop. All you need are some basic tools and the patience to find/watch the right YT videos. Like this one! Thanks guys for this tutorial, and it's great to see a vintage machine saved from the dump and returned to active service.

My great aunt was given this as a birthday present back in the day. She abandoned it when she left home and when her mother passed it almost became garbage until I saw it. Had it for 30 years and you gave it an understanding of how to use it. Thank you!

would it be possible to use inkscape+ink/stitch to generate the thread patterns before somehow importing that into the futura software, or is it all proprietary?

Just wanted to say thank you for this! Pulled my MIL’s old embroidery machine out this weekend. She had never used it! She had all the CDs and even had the forethought to keep the laptop with XP on it, but the SW would crash every time we tried to import a file. Downloaded the patches and it worked perfectly!
