I have EM6l and don't like their fit. The moment I saw Padsmith IEM, I had a feeling they would have a great fit. P5 have good fit and I like the tuning. I think the DD+microplanar is a great platform though for wide range and a single crossover to deal with.

Cool review and awesome first shot at iems by padsmith! Very similar configuration to the Moondrop May which I own so I am curious how they compare. Thanks for the review!
@AudioAmigoReviewsКүн бұрын
@@exactom6320 Thanks for the comment! The May and the Padsmith are actually using different types of drivers. The May is using a 6mm Annular Planar. It’s round and looks like a flat dynamic driver. It’s also used in the SeeAudio Rinko and the Simgot EW300. The Padsmith is using a MicroPlanar. It looks like a Balanced Armature and is built in a similar way, but there’s no reed and no… well balanced armature ahahaha. Other IEMs with this driver are the Supermix 4, the Dunu BrainDance, the Moondrop Dusk and the Performer 7. I personally prefer the MicroPlanars over the Annular Planars. They’re faster, more detailed, smaller, and less harsh. I do believe they’re more expensive to implement though. That also leads me to prefer the Padsmith over the May. But I do love the May. And it’s half the price. :) so I like them both a lot
@exactom6320Күн бұрын

I wouldnt worry about the "competitive gaming aspect" for headphones/IEMs. It hardly matters and wether or not you can actually hear footsteps well is typically down to the sound design for the game. And pros at the very top end usually just use whatever they are given anyway.
@AudioAmigoReviewsКүн бұрын
@@pelagia1538 this is generally my opinion as well. I believe your experience will depend more on how the game’s audio is coded rather than anything else.

no comparison vs ew300? 😭 and how about ew300 planar? what type of planar it use?
@AudioAmigoReviewsКүн бұрын
@@dagohutahaeann EW300 is much bassier than this. This is warm/neutral, the EW300 is either Warm or V-shaped. So different sound signatures. The Padsmith IEM is more resolving and has a bigger soundstage than the EW300, but it’s also $40 more. The micro-planar in this is a different type of planar to what the EW300 uses. EW300 uses an annular planar, it’s not a true planar, but it’s usually used in conjunction with dynamic drivers to provide extra top end. (EW300, Rinko, May)
@dagohutahaeannКүн бұрын
@AudioAmigoReviews so by your experience the micro planar is better than anular planar?

YAAASSS!!! Kima 2 ftw! Happy 3K as well!! AA fam is growing steadily👏👏👏 Been my fav ever since I got my green beauties and yeah stock cable is kinda hit or miss(only lasted me 3 sessions before getting shelved for a Grace Pro) but she definitely is a very competent, safe all-rounder that neither bores or hurt. Is it THE neutral-warm balanced bargain after iBasso Klee released? No - Yes? Well, she's closer to FD15 than to Klee imo; all 3 are superbly good at their respective price bracket, relatively close in performance, and would just be down to how much you got to shell out. Overall, a solid consideration for new and vets of the hobby and it can be seen as 10-15% upgrade on Klee or 90-95%% of FD15 for less cash and 2-pin(got mine for just roughly 85 bucks here at SEA so was an easy decision).

With just having $20 IEMs right now and being quite impatient with my pre-ordered SGOR Luna's, I've been very tempted to get the 7hz Sonus in the meantime as an upgrade. Do you think I should go for the 7hz Sonus or save my money and get the Dunu Kima 2 instead? Also, is it wrong to say that the 7hz Sonus is a great value for it's price to performance and the Dunu Kima 2 is a value for what it includes (tips, carry case etc.)? I prefer neutral tuning and value resolving gear. The more revealing and unforgiving an IEM is for both or well mixed/mastered tracks, the better. Great video as always. Cheers!
@AudioAmigoReviews2 күн бұрын
The Sonus us more a warm Neutral compared to the Kima's Mid-centric Neutral. Sonus will have more sub-bass, more forward vocals, and will be a bit airier than the Kima 2. Kima 2 will have richer lower mids, and be a bit more neutral overall. I think the statement of the Sonus being a great Price/Performance and the Kima2 being a great starter kit is accurate. I personally think the Sonus punches above it's weight when it comes to overall detail. It's underrated in my opinion. If what you want is something more neutral though, the Kima2 I feel would accomplish "Neutral" better
