It may have been a way to prevent Chris from colliding with oncoming cars, given that it was a blind curve and the BMW driver had better vision of the curve than Chris. After all, there was a lot of oncoming traffic.

Some Police Cars in Germany like the Audi A8L have Blue lights on the mirrors instead of the Indicators... so when they drive with the emergency lights the indicators will Flash Blue as long as they dont indicate. Might be worth a shot for the A4

This should be covered on your actual driving test. Either stop,pull into the side of the road or drive normally. Don't creep or be unpredictable

I think an american was driving, he did america's rules of "pull to the right", forgetting going right is oncoming traffic.

Chris, I do believe by DVSA standards there is no longer a strict requirement to keep hands at 10 & 2 on the steering wheel as long as you maintain proper control of the vehicle with other hand placements :) i have after some reading into it that a lot of driving schools now teach the 9&3 position due to the additional safety it offers in the event that the airbag deploys, and from personal experience in using both placements i personally favour 9&3 as it is more comfortable

It's great to see they've changed the way the horn and sirens interact now; I remember you commenting on a few videos how the horn felt agressive to other drives when you need to change sierens 🎉

looks good! as for the side profile; in addition to what people have already said about lights on the wing mirror, you see some American cars fitted with lights along the side skirt. some go all out and full a full ‘running board’ strip, but you also see them with 2, 3, or 4 individual flashers on the skirt. would work quite well if the shape of your car’s side skirt allows it :)

Hypothetical question. If I'm in lane 3 of a 4 lane motorway (overtaking slow moving traffic) and I see a blue light vehicle tanking it up lane 4 in my rear view - is it sufficient for me to just maintain my current course or is there something i can do to reassure the blue light driver I've seen them and am not about to pull into 4 for an overtake? Nearside indication? Slow down and move into 2?

You probably get asked this a lot but what exactly do you do? Are you an actual paramedic or someone who just drives the cars n do like educational stuff??

3:32 You shouldn’t hug the nearside of the carriageway when navigating this long left hand bend, the offside will drastically improve your vision around the bend whilst also being a shallower steering angle.

Interesting comment about keeping the hands at 10-2 and shuffling, compared to a racing driver keeping a fixed hand position for more control, but I suppose you also need to keep the stalks in reach?

You can tell you’re not a police driver, because you actually say thankyou to other people when they assist your progress. 👍🏻
@MementoMori-xx5qo11 күн бұрын
Whilst I do agree, one colleague once told me that they don't thank drivers as it might be taken the wrong way, that the Police driver has made a dangerous error and they are 'apologising' for their error. However the other point is that paramedics are thinking about their driving (as the information over the phone is usually minimal and doesn't cover injuries), whereas we are thinking about our course of action once we arrive.
@aquanick200111 күн бұрын
@ bollocks, it’s because they have no manners, every other emergency service says thankyou.

Hi mate, just a question for you. Do you respond differently depending on the emergency your attending? I cant tell if its just the different camera angle or not but this drive seems a lot faster paced than other ones. Cheers

one of the many reasons I gave up the idea of paramedicine after wanting to do it for 5 years was because of the driving. And I think it was a good thing cause this looks scary as but you do it with such ease. I'd be so nervous something will run out in front of the car and I'll crash or something lol

and in germany they are arguing about that emergency vehicles should only have two flashing lights because you could get distracted by too many lights. This absolut hilarious and life-threatening for emergency workers here

Anyone who is advanced driver trained will avoid crossing their arms whilst steering at all costs ! I'm not saying it never happens but the fact is when your arms are crossed you only have one steering option available to you & that is to steer the opposite way your arms crossed where as if you pass the wheel through your hands you always have full control.
