Replay squad. Been working on the new boat till dark each evening or fishing after work so l’ve missing the live shows. Love the expo news, I always hear about them after they happen lol. I’ll be a little salty if garmin releases a successor to the lvs34 I just got lol.. also Threw $5k at other garmin gear this season and loving how well it all works together and you don’t need a different model plotter to add a feature like HB. People that say garmin side imaging is worse than hummingbird just haven’t mastered their settings/ learned the difference in bottom return types fully. The resolution on the UHD2 models is significantly better than last gen.

I love to fish, and love FFS as it helps learn faster. What's your thoughts on 1 line limits here in MN? I'd love to see that increased to 2 at least. WI has a 3 line limits. I'd love fish a bobber, and then flip a jig, try plastics, or crankbaits at the same time. To me, it don't affect fish limits as you can only keep what you can, but I work, so I don't get out as often as I'd like, and when I do, the weather plays a factor, so I'd love to increase the line limits and learning curve. Thoughts, ideas?
@AlexTimm
@AlexTimm 4 күн бұрын
I agree with you. I'm a big fan of upping the lines in MN to 2 per Angler for the same reason you state, I'd love to have a bobber setup out and try something else actively fishing most of the time. Also, I think the situation you have is very common so it would be beneficial for a lot of people. Heck, it might be a hot take, but I'd give up some of the bag limit if they were worried about it to have 2 lines open water (I mean we already get 2 ice fishing)

They do not call it "boat limits" in MN and WI, they call it "Party limits" or "Party Fishing" because we don't always use boats, we have a unique thing with ice fishing up north.
@AlexTimm
@AlexTimm 4 күн бұрын
Ahh, I don't know how I've missed that, any specific lakes with the party limit you can shoot me the name of so I can look into it? I've never seen it in MN. But then again I live near the cities so don't get to a lot of the northern or far southern lakes

But Hummingbirds SI is better than Garmin's. But I've talked to couple sales people that got Lowerance's new Pro series say that Lowerances SI is getting better than Garmin and hummingbirds, but are they comparing it to helix series which is on low end resolution of hummingbird which I'm thinking it's the issue. Cause the Apex series over helix is close to double resolution. Cause it's know hummingbirds SI is a stronger signal over Garmin. I have Garmin in my 18' boat and when we bought our 2017 621 Ranger that came with Lowerance's so I'm gonna have to put them side by side.

Great info. I’m a big guy and getting up in years I recently had my knee replaced. The company I work for we actually make a step similar to these for Lund that they package with some of their trailers. I tried one the other day and just didn’t feel comfortable using it. Me personally I still prefer to step on the fender step and the top of the fender to enter my boat. If you have a quality trailer like a ShoreLandr you don’t need to worry about the fender breaking.

So, did it take take the paint off of your keel yet? I have a 2020 1875 Pro V that I launched a couple times a week, for 3 seasons, by myself, without putting a scratch on it. Added this ramp & clamp, at the lake with boat off. After installing, I slowly winched the boat on, which lined up perfectly when the boat is fully on the bunks. Backed into the water, with latched released, boat slide off and launched as normal, but as the rear end of the boat entered the water and floated, it put more pressure on the RnC and putting a large scuff on the keel as it slide off. Messed around with the tension, and making small tweaks, while launching and loading 6 more times. It was very hard on the paint, and I could tell by launching just these few times, that it would be taking the paint off in no time. I was pissed, but being the end of season, I left it on. Emailed pics and questions to B2T , was told I had it mounted too low. Really wanted it to work, and over the winter decided I would trade missing paint for ease of loading. On the origianal install, it had moved my boat back a couple inches past the end of the bunks, so I decided to reinstall moving the winch mount forward. Mounted it again, as shown in the instruction vids, with boat on the bunks. It was lined up perfect with dry boat sitting fully on the bunks, in the loaded position, as shown in the vids. Next couple launches same thing. Launches well, but hard on the paint. The launches vary alot here, most don't have concrete very far in the water, so power loading is prohibited, I did try to gently drive it on numerous times, even making a magnetic fiberglass "sight" that sticks up, to point the bow at while loading. Very easy to miss off to the side, as if you are off just a couple inches, and you throttle enough to make the latch lock(it takes a good run at it) it will dent your bow. You can be 6" away from full hookup, perfectly lined up, tap the throttle, and it can still shoot off to the side, denting and scratching the boat. This product is well made and I think would work well IF you can power load with bunks over half out of the water and you don't care what it does to your boat. I have have a friend, who has guided for many years,with a Drotto on his trailer, and he battles with the same issues. Good luck, mine is for sale.

Wow, very detailed feedback and experience. Thanks for sharing hopefully someone here or one of the companies can offer up some recommendations. I personally have not run into this issue at all yet (regarding the rubbing and paint damage), the difference being I know my winch post is pointed down rather than level or up and I have a roller trailer (as you know makes this glide really easily even when not in much water), however just yesterday I specifically backed the trailer in much more than I needed to see if I would run into any issues and I didn't with the latching. As for the centering and getting it lined up. Yes, I had that issue the very first time I went to load. I thought I was good and I gave it some gas and sideways it went off to the side and the bow past the latch (fortunately without too much scuffing / damage). What I did was got some side rollers to help guide the bow a bit better and it's been great now every time. Even when I come at the trailer from a 45 degree angle it straightens itself out and onto the RNC.

Hi Alex, good review of all the different brands. Just to touch on a few things regarding our BoatEFX steps. We also offer an all aluminum construction step for saltwater use as well as with our wake and pleasure boat steps. We also offer 10 different powder coat colors for all our step systems 👍🏼. Finally our steps are bolt on application to the winch or trailer frame depending on what the specific boat and trailer calls for, but we also were the first to design the universal bracket for the step system that lets you level and adjust the steps to your liking. Overall we appreciate the transparency and overall views on the steps!
