aside from the sound, which one is the most comfortable to play? in terms of box size, neck length, finger spacing etc. if you were to play one for hours which one would be more comfortable?
@wschield6084 күн бұрын
That’s a tough one. Although there is a difference both are comfortable. If you have very large hands or played the guitar for years the baritone may be easier but for me, I prefer the comfort of holding and playing the tenor. But like I said, that’s a tough one because there’s no wrong answer. Wes

beautiful tone, thanks for sharing. When I was young I played guitar informally, but for hours most days. someone made off with my guitar when I was 26... I was dead broke and busy, so it didn't get replaced. Now I'm old I'd love to have one again, but thought maybe a uke might be a better place to start. When I learned Alvarez makes a 6 string baritone and that the tuning is the same as a guitar, I was sold - in theory. But music is emotion, not logic, and until I heard this I wasn't sure... this one sounds beautiful. Thanks for posting this, it was really helpful.

You’re most welcome and I’m glad it helped. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on a baritone ukulele. Many years ago, before my accident, I played an Alvarez 12 string and absolutely loved the sound so I decided to give this one a try and I’ve never looked back. Thanks for both watching and your comment. Wes

Thank you, Henri. Yes, I play a low G almost exclusively. When I order new strings I’ll always order them with a low G. If I’m adding a low G to a set of strings already on my ukulele I generally use Pepe Romero low squeak string. Thanks for the comment, Wes

I just added you to my list of tutorials. I like your philosophy on learning something new, take it slow, muscle memory will allow you to process faster as you learn. Just turned 75 this month and starting to learn Malagueña. There are a lot of variations on playing the song. You found variation that worked for you, I am trying to do the same thing. Fingers are not as supple as they one were, so l’m taking it slow. Thanks for the tutorial.

Iv got this exact uke. It’s got good sound and decent action from the factory. I still like my guitar best. But this is great for a casual playing and singing with. I put a reentrant string on mine to clawhammer and back up old time fiddlers. Easier to tote around than my banjo at festivals.

I realize most people watching this video are scratching their heads as they think of my channel as strictly a ukulele channel, which to be fair it has been, but like each of us, there are many sides to my life and this is simply another piece of the puzzle that defines who I am. In the future I may post other videos on hang gliding, magic or my love of life. And yes, as well as other ukulele videos. This video was filmed a few months ago just after purchasing my first kayak. There is a seven mile stretch which i tried to share a sampling of. The creek is less than 30 minutes away from my home and the final shot was taken right out my back door. I also took up catch and release fly fishing about the same time. Buying a fly rod is like buying a ukulele, one just isn’t enough. lol Life is so short, try and fill every moment with memories, friends and love. Thanks for watching. Wes
