Lol, thanks Bonnie! It’s a wonderful ukulele and the people there were great to deal with. I couldn’t be happier. Thanks again for both watching and commenting. Wes

@@wschield608 Thanks Wes. I would really like a quality slim concert ukulele and I love the idea of spruce. I’m going to look at one other ukulele and then decide. But have a feeling I’ll be ordering this one ! I appreciate the review. And I even like the case 😂

Wish I had known you were in the area visiting Matt’s shop. I’m close by and would have enjoyed meeting you. I bought my Ohana TK-22 tenor solid spruce top/ mahogany body at Aloha Ukes. It was a Covid impulse buy, having not played anything in many, many, years. I find your channel entertaining, informative and pleasant to watch. I’ve about learned your Malagueña, not mastered, but learning. These 71 year old fingers and brain take a while to process new muscle memories. Chris Young

Yep, I know all about both those fingers and especially memory. lol That was the first time I had met Matt, a very nice guy. And I loved his shop, it had everything you could ever want concerning ukes. If I head up there again, although at this point my wife may put her foot down lol, I’ll let you know. Thanks also for both watching and more importantly, the kind words. They are always appreciated. Take care, Chris, Wes

Hey Wes, I've been playing a concert ukulele for about 4 years and am ready to try my hand at a tenor. What would you say are the best things to look out for when buying a tenor uke? All the best! Ben
@wschield6082 жыл бұрын
Hey Ben, That’s a tough one to answer but I’ll give it a shot. First of all you DON’T have to spend a fortune to find a nice ukulele. But that being said if you happen to find one which is a little more than you expected to spend but it is a ukulele you love, spend the extra money and buy it. Otherwise you’ll be second guessing your decision the rest of your life. I speak from experience. If possible buy one from a dealer who has a quality setup, not on Amazon. I have purchased on Amazon and been very lucky but many others not so much. Poor tuners, cracked wood, warped neck or buzzing strings. If you can get to a mom and pop shop where you can actually hold the different ukuleles do it. For one reason they need your support and another, there is no substitute for actually playing the different ukuleles. The ukulele needs good tuners, a good finish and a straight neck. A good setup will guarantee this. Strings are extremely important but can be changed numerous times until you find the feel and sound that your were looking for. Many of my different videos show the sound and feel I like. Yours will be different but they are a starting point. In each of those videos descriptions I try and list what I’m playing. Buy a brand name from a dealer with a good return policy if possible. As long as you don’t alter the original instrument it should be returnable within 30 days. I’ve purchased instruments from The Ukulele Site, Mainland Uke, Guitar Center, Uke Republic, Aloha City Ukes and Amazon. Other than Amazon, everyone had a great setup and were returnable. Expect to spend $200+ for a quality instrument. The difference in sound quality between a $200 ukulele and a $1200 ukulele is minimal but the look and feel are not. You’ll have to decide what is important to you. I don’t know if somewhere in all my rambling I’ve answered your questions or not but I tried. If not, please don’t hesitate to ask about anything I overlooked or was unclear on. I really appreciate you both watching my video and asking your question. Take care, Wes PS Here is a quick video I put together this morning that may also help you. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kIqwZqJ4a759mLc
