I notice that you tend to miss the upper right corner when you rub a finish on the tile with your finger. You cover the other corners 3-4 times but only hit the upper right corner once.

Do you recommend a technique for applying gel medium when it’s a larger surface? I’m using unfinished wood planks and using finger isn’t practical. The foam brushes are meh. Thanks !!
@imagetransferswithrix
@imagetransferswithrix 2 күн бұрын
Those are the only two ways I apply it. Foam brushes or my finger. The finger is just to make sure you have 100% 'wet' coverage (not dry or tacky) and there are not hard bits from the lid of the container. You may want to watch my most recent videos on using Mod Podge after spray protecting the transfer paper. Then you can be a little more liberal with the glue (Mod Podge) and use the foam brush (or whatever you like) to apply it.

Any white paint that will stick. You can also use Gesso. I really don't pay much attention to the type of paint. I'll grab whatever is on the garage shelf. You may want to test though.

I’m going to order some of your paper. I’ve done many photo to wood transfers in the past and had great success but just did 6 fails and have no idea what went wrong. I had the photos printed at FedEx as usual, used unfinished wood planks as before. I used mod podge and then Liquitex. All images had major problems adhering and I’m starting to think the copy paper being used by FedEx has changed somehow. Or perhaps the unfinished wood planks are treated with something that’s preventing the images from being transferred. I’m pretty frustrated and also done with the rubbing method. How quickly does your paper ship once I order and what is the shipping method? Thank you !!!
@imagetransferswithrix
@imagetransferswithrix 2 күн бұрын
Thanks for your order. Looks like it's shipping today! Ships USPS. I don't blame you for being tired of the rubbing method. As for the 'adhering' issue you are having, are you saying that the image is coming off when you RUB? If that's the case, then you should have better success with the QT paper as you won't have to rub. However, if you are having a problem with simply gluing your paper to something, that's a different issue. With the QT paper, you will need to be able to glue it to the wood. No need to rub it, but you do need to glue it. Let's see how this works out for you. :-)

Rix did you say if is not completely dry, it could end up with spots? I did a few pictures on the 4” wood, let them dry and ended up with small pin hole size spots on most of the finished product. One I sprayed with coating spray (Kamari). I adjusted it to fit the wood.But spots and not a good picture on both. What ya think?
@imagetransferswithrix
@imagetransferswithrix Ай бұрын
Do you see parts of your image left on the transfer paper that matches those dots you have on the wood? If so, then those spots were NOT glued down. Either missing glue, poor contact, or glue not dry in those areas. As I always say, IF ANY PART OF THE IMAGE HAS NOT TRANSFERRED AND YOU CAN SEE IT STILL ON THE PAPER WHEN PEELED OFF, then it was not glued down. Because you will NOT be able to peel up the image if glued on the wood. Impossible.

Is it possible to use ModPodge instead of the spray starch, or are there any alternatives?
@imagetransferswithrix

The starch is to allow you to print using an Inkjet printer. ModPodge won't work. You can use it to glue with, as I often do, but not to use for inkjet printing.

Hi I am not having a lot of success in peeling off the paper. I usually have to go through the rubbing process. The result is not too bad but it is very time consuming. I have a heat press. The KZbin algorithms have introduced me to these transfers. Swear they are in cahoots with Amazon. Question is - why all the fuss about hacking sublimation on heat transfer vinyl since this sure looks a lot simpler and less expensive? Does one method hold up better over time or some other reason? And now I need to learn about pigment inks for my Epson. Didn't realize there was a choice over the default inkjet ink. Sure appreciate the detail and best advice you put into your videos.
@imagetransferswithrix
@imagetransferswithrix 3 ай бұрын
Thanks Lance. When I learned that you can replace your dye ink with pigment (at least with my Epson printers), I was all over it. I just think Pigment is better, but that's just me. As a disclaimer, I have zero experience in sublimation and don't want to invest in it unless there is something I want to do that requires it. Haven't found myself there.
