I feel for you Frank, because personally, I...HATE...to paint. If I choose a tube and fabric design when I finally build my plane (I keep saying 'when' to keep the dream alive) I will spend the extra money for Oratex to avoid as much painting as I can. Keep pushing, your work and attention to detail inspire me. Really like how this aircraft is looking.

Somewhere between 850 and 900 hours to date. That doesn't include researching and/or head scratching.

It’s looking great, Frank. How many layers of glass cloth on those cuffs?
@frankjohnson7388 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Josh. First layup was 3, I sanded that, then 3 more. I still have some final sanding, but it shouldn't need any more.

too bad they now want 10,000 dollars for a 4,000 engine, next option please
@autonomousindividual7780 Жыл бұрын
That's the new world they're making for us. They can't just take it away so they'll starve you out of your petty little pursuits. I went to the store last night and a jar of strawberry jelly that used to be $3.50 is now $6.00. Makes you sick, but too many people saying that politics doesn't affect them yields a world where you no longer have control. I hope you don't think they just arbitrarily doubled the price of this motor. The new price is what they need to get to stay in business after raw materials, energy, insurance etc has all gone through the roof. They're in the Czech Republic. The US blowing up that pipeline and starting a war can't be helping.

True, they are kinda pricey. But the cool factor- looks, sound and the TBO all eases the pain a little.

Your smart on the fuel tank in the center of the wing, I don't know why others do the same instead of putting the center cap and putting the fuel tank on one side of the wing. Mabie safety, but I had my local fab guy make a 5 gal. Fuel tank out of aircraft aluminum right in the center of my eagles wings.
