Getting ready to do mine now, my question is... what kind of oil should i put in the gearbox and how much? Much appreciated!
@WMCS8 сағат бұрын
Ideally 75w90 .. fill it through level plug. Once it starts overflowing that’s the correct amount.

Just finished doing this job on my Picasso II E-HDI, and truely, what a crime the way they engineered this POS. I hope i never have to replace the starter motor on this thing. Anyone doing this job, be careful, the front bolts of the subframe have retaining nuts held in place by flimsy plastic pieces! It took me 16 hours to replace the flywheel and clutch, by comparison, I replaced the clutch of a Peugeot 107 before in under 4 hours. My local Peugeot dealer dared to ask 3000 euro for this job!

Kevin, would you with your experience of working on Toyota vehicles have any idea if the gearbox fitted to the 2008 Toyota Yaris 1.0 would be the same as a 2004 Toyota Yaris 1.0 gearbox? Would the bellhousing be the same?

Yes. But always good to check the code stamped on gearbox. As sometimes the seller aren’t too clued on.

I might have missed it, but what are your thoughts on the Milwaukee M18 FUEL series of tools? Any issues? Worth the price? Well made and can take daily work?
@niallcosgrove55965 күн бұрын
They are overrated.. The batteries wear out the housing really badly. The M12 line is pretty good. Guess it depends on what and how often you use them.

What are your thoughts on M18 FUEL cordless tools?

It has its pros and cons against the top brands. It’s still amongst the 5 top rated as far as I’m aware.

The legend strikes again, I mean look how Kevin breezes through the work despite the rain, a true master of his craft. I bet many would have phoned in sick :) . Quick Q, have you ever had rounded flywheel bolts, if so how did you get them out, just curious as maybe because they are inside the box the elements don't get to them, have a good one, cheers
@WMCS5 күн бұрын
If you’re stuck with one let me know via email. Otherwise yes it’s happened a few times. I have bolt extractors for both male and female studs. If worst case. Then I’ll cut the head of the bolt and pull flywheel over it then use a mole grip to unwind it.
@marksutherland7745 күн бұрын
@@WMCS Not got that far yet lol, was just curious as it must be a right PITA coming across that on a flywheel but nice one with the cut heat off method. Thanks again for the reply and hope you're well on mend but must say enjoying these videos with the tips.

You are the man Kevin ! About to do my second ALH tdi , VR6 clutch / g60 flywheel conversion in 6 months and I will be doing it the Kevin Albert Williams way 🦾🦾🦾 Edit : got a question for you. I just baught this car 03 ALH . The engine is strong but the clutch pedal is very hard to push and won't go in gear . I'm ordering clutch kit, throwout bearing , clutch fork , the pivot pin for the fork, slave cylinder etc. ( going to do the main seal as well). Should I be ordering a new master cylinder as well or should I wait to get it apart and see if it's the pressure plate that's destroyed? I've never had a car with this symptom before so I'm trying to get as much info as possible. Thanks . Stay safe ✌️
@WMCS6 күн бұрын
Sounds like it’s had a clutch upgrade. To a performance one at some point. The pressure plate force is a lot more to compress the clutch kit. And when they eventually wear out. It becomes excessively heavy. I know there is two version versions me has the DMF. if the DMF centre plate is worn that would contribute. I would change the fork and pivot pin also for the sake of an extra £20. 🍻🍻🍻
@sunoclockoneday25765 күн бұрын
@WMCS thanks for your response. I just installed a single mass / vr6 clutch in my current daily driver and it is a bit stiffer than the previous but this newer car won't go into gear along with very hard to push clutch pedal. It does have a later 02j installed , which is clean and has paint marker writing from a wrecking yard. I guess I will just tear it all apart and see what I find 🤣
