Hi Velile, I live in DC and would love the chance to meet you and your husband! I’m probably not your typical American-I’m very familiar with South African culture and lifestyle and have visited 15 other African countries, often alongside South African friends. I’m an engineer for the U.S. government and travel to South Africa 3-4 times a year. During the COVID lockdown, I even lived there and got involved in the medical and hospitality sectors. One of my favorite (and funniest) memories is being tasked with supervising remote schooling for kids in the house-including Zulu lessons. It was the blind leading the blind with a 7-year-old, but we survived! I’ve spent time in rural areas but stay in Centurion when I visit. I have plenty of stories to share, laughs to exchange, and I’m always eager to learn from others. Let me know if you guys would like to connect! [email protected]

Sad to hear. Perhaps they can start their own stokvels over there. It's a very South African thing to do to help each other through tough times and grow communal finances.

Ooh Velile this is so sad can you try crowd funding and other fund raising platforms they are available at search on google. can you help esp. those who wanna come back. please do your hair. please cc consider that option and tag your platforms. south africans are generous they will help as well...when they get home they must have government pension...the children have dual citizenship naturally. please come back home guys! buyani nibuyele emakhaya- rebecca malope

Why can’t black foreigners from the uk buy plots there ? This is sad and shows the difference between white people and black people whites don’t restrict whites from buying in there area so why do we ? It would be great if this can be sold to black diaspora from uk 🇬🇧

There's this group of black 🇿🇦 who've never left the country or let alone their home provinces, but they still claim to know it all. And they often say black South Africans don't travel to work overseas because South Africa has got everything. Here in the UK there's a big community of black saffa nurses who came here more than 20yrs ago. Some of us built houses, sent siblings to universities, helped relatives out of extreme poverty with the money that we've been earning from the West. Our kids now have free education, free healthcare, and plenty of opportunities to become whatever they want without paying bribes or sleeping with people in powerful positions in order to get jobs or favours. The West is not perfect, but 🇿🇦 cannot be compared to them when it comes to the standard of living. This Dec I'm visiting home, the clothes, phones, tablets, laptops & shoes that i bought for my family there's no way i could've afford all these things with a salary earned in Rands. I'm grateful to the UK & no matter how full my stomach is, i will never diss the country that has enabled me to feed my family for the past 20yrs years.

-First you don't have to live in a country to know it, but rather its more about experience. -Second most blacks don't even have money to travel the world let alone thier country. -Third Not everyone in SA sleeps with people or bribes to succeed that is your experience. Learn to respect others, and respect where you come from. Stop being ignorant
@kentcountryside106 сағат бұрын
@KoketsoR7 Yes, one has to live in a country in order to know how it works. I've never lived in Brazil, so i don't know how that country works. Nowhere on my comment did I say black people have money to travel the world. Again, you just replied back for the sake of doing it without understanding my point. I never said everyone was sleeping with people to get jobs. I've got female siblings, relatives & friends who were subjected to that nonsense when they were looking for jobs. If it has never happened to you or anyone you know, it does not mean it is not out there. You mentioned respecting other people, etc. Those are your own delusions because I did not insult or disrespect anyone. Remove that chip on your shoulders. It makes you come with conspiracy theories that are not real and only happening in your brain.

The time for shaming South Africans who have decided to leave South Africa, has to stop. Not all of us left because we were suffering, not all of us left to be nannies/waiters/nurses. There are many South Africans who are abroad working as captains of industry, decision makers, taste makers, trendsetters, inventors, people working to improve the lives of South Africans back home and those abroad. South Africans are very patriotic, very Proudly South African, its in all our DNA but that pride can easily be turned into something else and thats sad to see when it happens.
@kentcountryside1012 сағат бұрын
Deep down, they're envying us & the only thing to comfort themselves is by mocking us because they don't have the means to leave. Most of them are busy taking drugs and drinking themselves into oblivion to try and numb their pain & frustrations. 🇿🇦 is cool when one has a good paying job, but if you're on the other end of the scale, it is not ayoba at all. Don't mind them. Let them swim in their own pool of ignorance.

Everything was so expensive , clubbing was just not possible people my age didn’t have the same quality of life as I did in SA.

Lies. Velile. My son went to US from Mzansi. He’s happy there and won’t come back. Of course rent is expensive. He’s renting a single bedroom in a house with communal bathroom toilets lounge and kitchen. Not even a sink in his bedroom. But as long as he sends me money I want him to stay there

So NOW u know lady! There are South Africans who are living Well in the US. Hey! I ❤ it here in the U.S. BUT I don't hang around negative pple - Africans or not.
@freebluebutterfly6583Күн бұрын
Yes. You are biased. Most South Africans I know are negative & more concerned about other countries than their own. Please stop bashing the U.S. our unemployment rate is is a horror. & South Africa is in the top 5 of the most violent countries in the world. Its not the U.S fault that my pple fail to realize DC is a bad place but they foolishly stay. Successful S.Africans move out of D.C & NYC. & it's never easy to adjust to other countries. Can't blame the US but themselves. I KNOW 1st hand that S. Africa also has Massive problems. MASSIVE. I could move to Alexander & judge the whole South Africa based on what i see in Alex & bad parts of Soweto. Im still a proud South African but enjoying life on the outskirts of a small city - Greensboro, North Carolina for 40 yrs. 62 yrs old. Hapilly retired! & married for 38 yrs. We worked & SAVED to build our home. This country is NOT cakewalk. You must consistently work hard & start SAVING EARLY. Living in the Southern states is very different from big city life. Pple down south are very friendly. They smile greet & vey kind. Virginia & the Carolinas are affordable, slower paced & SAFE! We walk our dog in our neighborhood every evening. No fences between homes & we're not in a gated area. The US is a Mmassive country with different environments. Many Africans we know are living well here. Washington DC is a sad area compared to many other U.S cities. I wouldn't recommend big cities like DC or NY City to Anyone. I ❤ the U.S. My family 💙s the Snow. We visit Colorado to ski. There's no perfect country. We also lived in Europe for 2 yrs. I visited S. Africa 2 yrs ago but I'd rather live in the US. The Southern states are also clean & u get a good chunk of land for a $. South Africa also has BEAUTIFUL areas but it's NOT safe. Id gladly visit but never stay. Oh!speaking of Filth, dont even go there. I lived in S. Africa.😢 Sorry but u sound bitter & unhappy since all u do is CRITICIZE criticize... Just return to that perfect South Africa. Washington DC is a TINY part of the US & doesnt reperesent this entire country.. Travel & u'll find much BEAUTY. We own 3 good cars for the 2 of us here & we eat very healthy. Just like U in SA. U had nothing positive to say. I avoid negative S.Africans like you. Life is sweet for some of us here. You'll learn that not everyone who greets & smile is not a friend. Even in S. Africa.

@sharonbradshaw45892 күн бұрын
I am confused. I am South African and will never live anywhere else because our people are just amazing. Friendly, funny and help one another when everything goes wrong. We are ALL SURVIVORS. I feel the USA is a mess and very racist just watching elections makes one realise how much hate there is in USA. Not too sure how you refer to FREE LAND if they come home that may not be the case but for those that want to come home do so because there is absolutely no reason to be embarrassed your people will welcome you. The people who love you will understand. Life is DEFINITELY NOT about material things - live a quality of life not quantity. We come into this world with nothing and we leave with nothing except our beautiful memories and experiences.

Thanks Velile for this fascinating video. South Africa is such a vibrant and alive country with the best constitution. People in South Africa are more in touch with their own natures because they are still hands on and down to earth. I found so much of American culture packaged, processed and overvarnished. Thank God I live in a country where I can still eat with my hands. 🎉🤗🇿🇦👏👏
