"Just OK cabin"? It's a great cabin, high quality and probably best in class, or very close to. I have no idea why you find it cramped, it has a cockpit style feel which is what many people want and many manufacturers have copied that as a result and it's a very comfortable car. Cannot comment further because I stopped watching at that point. I have always liked the Honest John website, one of my go-to motoring sites but I'm not so sure after this. Just a note on visibility, you can't change that without altering the style of the vehicle which is probably it's biggest selling point so I don't know why reviewers keep bringing it up. You can see that without ever going to view a car so if that's a really issue for you, you wouldn't be interested in buying it in the first place. Same with luggage space, 99% of us just need to carry a couple of suitcases once or twice a year. Nobody ever mentions the fact that you can stand the cases up vertically which you can't do in most hatches without removing the parcel shelf and leaving it behind. In the Evoque it will store upright against the back of the rear seats. For the rest of the time it's just carrying shopping or school kit. for anything larger that needs to be moved occasionally, that's why these cars have drop-down seats so please, reviewers, stop banging on about luggage space.

We skipped it due to the bad rear view when backing. A rear view camera will not resolve it either as o e need a good side view too but that is blocked by the massive d-pillars. The angle of the a-pillars is also to low (and to thick!), it should be much more upright, like at the Volvo XC40.

Interesting perspective 😂 I previously owned the 2.0 diesel varient of this, remapped from 150 to 180bhp. Overall I liked it. I didn't have any gripes with the interior, although mine was the higher spec titanium model. Definitely seemed to be angled towards comfort rather than sportiness, which was fine by me. I since purchased a Mazda6 which seems to have the upper hand in terms of agility. 3rd and 4th gear accelation in the Mazda also feels brisker despite having 30 less bhp than the Ford (I guess it's because the Ford is a much heavier car.. Despite this, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Mondeo... Personally I'd take either over an suv..

Lovely looking car, shed loads of tech but had one blow up on me, the mrs and the kids on the fast lane of the m25 at lets say 70. Car was only on 65,000 on a 17 plate and needed whole new engine. Very scary especially for the kids, with the panic in the air. So lovely car but 100% now deterred me from french cars ever again. Now got a kuga instead.

OK. We are in New Zealand and it's 2024. I've owned my '16 Ford Mondeo mk5 2.0l Titanium for 6 years, 80,000kms. This is the best car I have ever owned. Looking around, nothing else attracts me. Until now, I have always driven 6 cylinder 4.0l cars. The Mondeo 'ecoboost' does everything I ask.

did you have the base feel model? I just bought a 1.5 diesel 8 speed auto flare model and it drives really well, 2 hours on the motorways doing a hundred miles at 70 mph it sipped fuel very slowly and considering the heavy rain it gripped the road very well, I never had tatoos simply because i was warned off them by a surgeon as I have blood clotting issues. I also haver hernias that cant be operated on from lifting heavy snooker table slates in the 1980s. and I know a good comfortable car when I drive it, the C5 Aircross is a big bulky SUV with some interesting styling issues and many wont like the heater controls being on screen only but it is so simple and responsive to operate even when driving that any worries over saftey melt away there, the shat naff is very easy to use as well and most people wont need a manual to work it out ,the road speed signs displayed on the instrument binnacle are very handy to especially if your not quite sure what the limit is or sign posting has not be done well on the roadside. 800 newton mitres is very good especially in the mid power range for a 1.5 litre diesel, and no the engine is not loud at all its very quiet indeed. there is a little road noise from the large 18 inch alloy wheels and tyres but thats about it and mine is missing its rear parcel shelf. I owened a 24 year old citroen xantia with a 2 litre diesel engine and sound proofing has come a very long way since those days. I happy with it so far No aches or pains when getting out of the half nappa leather seats after a 2 hour journey, just a shame its not cool enough for the reviewer and in the flare model the drivers seat does go down to the floor almost this feature must have been missing in the reviewers model it also has lumbar support and a nice little touch where the head rests slide forward to meet the back of your head unlike in most cars where your head hardly ever meets the headrest.

Mondeo isn't that bad to be fair. CVT issue is common with all hybrids but one can learn to live with it. Comparing to PHEV is wrong as they are plugins(and you pay allot more).

It's summer 2022 and I just ordered a plug-in-hybrid here in Spain. Never was aware of the Evoque hype in previous years and drove German cars most of the time Will see if it is reliable and worth the high price tag. What I am sure about is that the design still stands out and the interior materials and equipment seem poshy. Thanks for the review.

I am currently half way through a rental of the saloon version of this car and it is by far, the worst car I’ve ever had the misfortune of driving. From a consumer perspective, I can summarise this car as follows: The drive train is absolutely appalling, no power, very noisy and forget accelerating uphill. It is far less efficient than your average diesel or modern petrol engine with none of the perks. It is enormous with less usable boot space than my 208 hatchback owing to most of the useful space taken up by the battery. It’s length combined with the turning circle of a boat, make it impossible to manoeuvre in confined spaces. It has a completely pointless ‘keyless start’ feature, so you could drive off with the keys on the roof, should you so desire, losing them for eternity and unable to restart your car once arrived at your destination. The pillars obscure oncoming traffic around corners. The touchscreen is so slow you’ll give up and use your phone for sat nav. If you do use the sat nav, that’s appalling as well. There’s not a single redeeming feature, I can’t wait to never see it again. I hate this car so much, I’ve left a comment on KZbin, which is about my fifth comment in 10 years.

I prefer the rear shape of the 2011-2018 - the new one looks like it's bending over to pick something up of the lower Waitrose shelf, to use your analogy.
