@MeltonInternationalTackle
@MeltonInternationalTackle 4 күн бұрын
Hi @rickhanna8865. You can use a 200lb braid as backing for 200lb mono. You can also do 130lb mono to 130lb or 200lb braid. You can do 200lb mono to 130lb or 200lb braid.

Why don't these reels have a left-handed version. You lose customers who want a left-handed version

Hi @marcinwisnia4598. My guess is there aren't enough demand for these manufacturers to make left-handed reels available across all their reels.

This handle upgrade is a much better feel than the ball handle for sure, but don't confuse it for a power handle as I did. It was easy to retro fit to my Talica 20 no problem. The handle is the same length as the original handle. If you're using it to jig night time bluefin in deep water you will still be cranking in your line with the same effort. If you need power I would recommend purchasing an after market handle.

Hi @libingliang7967. Our people at Melton Tackle have been fishing for years. They know the spots where fish are biting. Sometimes, you can get an idea from looking at reports from your local sportfishing charter boats that kind of give you a general area of where they have been catching fish.

Hi @rippingandripping9983. If you're in the Gulf or in the east coast, a Penn 80W is a good choice for shark fishing from shore. Some people fill it up with half mono and half braid.

@MeltonInternationalTackle
@MeltonInternationalTackle 3 ай бұрын
Hi @smashrc123. The easiest way to tell the difference is from the model number. A single speed Talica model number will be like "TAC16" where a 2-speed Talica model number will be like "TAC16II". The roman numeral "II" in the model name will indicate it's a 2-speed.

Great video on setting up kites. We're up here in NC. Our fishery s nothing like yalls. Only thing we have in close are kingfish and we hav3 lots of tournaments. One problem is we hav3 to chase our fish down so sharks don't get th3m. Lot of trouble with kite up and multiple lines. Most up here slow troll which I despise. I now simple run a long leader and attach a Balloon to my swivel. I know that you hav3 less in the water with a kite. As of yet, I haven't had any issues simple using a balloon float. For what we hav3 , kite not worth it and doesn't hav3 3nough be edit over just a balloon float to justify it. If you hav3 a bunch of folks on the boat maybe but we gave up. 6 ft were balloon a d a bluefish never fails us. We have no fish here compared to what yall hav3. Our state has wiped out our fish via commercial fishing.after around 6 tournaments up here this year, winning fish hav3 been mid to upper 30,s .

Dear Tracy, Which would you recommend more for big bluefin jigging at night, these reels or the visx16?
@MeltonInternationalTackle
@MeltonInternationalTackle 5 ай бұрын
Hi @nancyn3863. The Penn VISX16 is heavier than the new Shimano Talica 20II or Talica 25II. The new Talica 20II or Talica 25II would be better in terms of weight. The Talica 20II can catch tuna at around 180 pounds or under. The Talica 25II can catch tuna up to 200 pounds and would allow you to have more line than the Talica 20II.
@nancyn3863
@nancyn3863 5 ай бұрын
Hi Tracy thank you for your response. Last question, which one would you choose if you were doing this like once a year or so. I noticed that the visx 16 is 36 ounces and the talica 20 is also 36 ounces per the specs. Does the visx allow you to get larger fish? Sorry,I can’t get out to your store to try them in person because I live far so I would have to order online which is why I’m asking.

IMO, the key to this product is to keep from spending $600 for each size adjustable butt.. The only time I worry about the number of butts, is when flying. A lot simpler to carry 1 or 2 butts instead of 4 or 5 and paying the scarelines another $40 each direction.

Hi there - great video - thanks! Quick question: I am interested in buying the 1800 for trolling with a 6lbs lead. Very thin braid to fish in 60m depth (0.33mm/22kg). Would you recommend the 1800 or shall I go for the 1200? Any difference regarding brake (needs to be adjustable very accurately - trout needs to be able to go / brake needs to release). Thank you very much for your advice. Best!
@MeltonInternationalTackle

Hi @kriegerkony. If you plan on doing commercial fishing then the 1800 is recommended. If you are only fishing for recreation, you won't need a reel as big as the 1800. The 1200 will be just fine.

Love the 38 Special sound track. I've purchased from Melton a few times via fleabay, and a few times direct. Fast service and good prices. Where is this hybrid electric reel made? If it's Chinese, it's off my list. Current Penn ownership group is running the company into the ground with off shoring 95% of the production for cheap labor. IMO, Penn has lost their way.

@MeltonInternationalTackle

Hi @random1883. With a large treble hook, you would run into the problem of having the fish stay hooked when you're reeling it in. A large treble hook tend to not get a good hold inside the fish mouth.

I like it and get great results with it, it has two draw backs: it knots easily and has no give, but it's benefits are immense: thinner diameter for farther casting and the ability to fit more line on your reel and better strength and longevity than monofilament, it's not just better strength, it's incredibly strong
