I would have loved to see this band on the same bill with King Crimson circa Discipline

Much respect for the men in his band. They tolerated difficult and sometimes abusive conditions to be the conduits for Beefheart’s conjurings. He could not have done it without them. They must have known they were part of something singular, the kind of chance most people never get, the chance to contribute to something that matters and that will be remembered.

How does the band even keep this together? It is extremely complex stuff. And that's just one of the songs.

I saw this ensemble in NYC twice in one night at 2 different venues.Irving Plaza and The Mudd club. This was the day after Lennon was murdered. He tore both places up.How I made it through both gigs.I will never know!

You can tell he had strong visual thinking style with those hand movements. It also explains why when he writes it’s so easy to visualise what he’s saying, he was a verbal painter.

Con Bat Chain Puller Don establece un nuevo hito en el controvertido, a veces indescifrable, mundo de la música. Es esa indiferencia lo que nos hace sentir incómodos

I knew Don and was visiting him with my and Dons friend Bo Griffen around 1978 or so. Don pointed to his Volvo outside and said when he pulled under his carport it was raining and he heard the sound of the rain 🌧️ and his wipers and I think also his turn signal and used it for this song
