Awesome content as always, and a cool followup to last year's Krampus. I like how you approached Father Christmas like he's a mythological being, which you could argue he is. Given the folklore surrounding the character and his supernatural powers and historic origins. I know Santa Claus is FAR more commonly used than Father Christmas (likely due to the global presence of American media) but I grew up with Father Christmas so that is my preference. I wonder if you are aware of Zwarte Piet, the helper of Saint Nicholas who comes from Spain. Apparently he dates back to 1850 and frequently shows up in Netherlands and Belgium Christmas parades alongside Saint Nicholas. Given that Saint Nicholas is one of the progenitors of Father Christmas/Santa Claus I am surprised he didn't show up here, even in passing. Still I feel you covered alot of ground with the character, his origins and cultural roots. Your mention of Father Christmas and how in Hogfather *"Sooner or later all of the older stories are sooner or later about blood"* and it peaked my curiosity how this relates to him. What connection does Father Christmas have to blood? Admittedly having not read Hogfather so I don't know how Terry Pratchett explained it. The wormhole theory is very interesting concerning Father Christmas, how it allows his Reindeer and Sleigh to fly, and how he could use them to get around the world. Also I noticed both title card read *"Santa Clause"* instead of *"Santa Claus"* . I see someone else did but just thought I'd mention it caught my attention. Thanks, Tim Allen. I too grew up saying Father Christmas, but as you allude to, I chose santa mainly because of the dominance of american culture. Even over here in Asia people use Santa. So its kind of a moot point to use Father Christmas outside of the Anlgosphere. More's the pity but thats life I guess. If Im being at all honest, I was a little rushed with this video. my fiancé fell pregnant this month and doing all the things one must do in such an event kinda messed with my schedule. This is the reason that there was no charge on the patreon account, since I didn't make my early access deadline. I have been reviewing my psychology text books from university. I find I am understanding Carl Jung a lot better as a consequence. Many of these myths and legends that we hold dear are expressions of old and deep impulses and urges. Father Christmas is essentially, in Europe, an incarnation of a sun god. A celebration during the darkest and coldest time of the year; where hunting wild animals to feed oneself was not only vital but an essential aspect of European culture during this time of year. I might, however the imp is partially covered in the fairy video. I am thinking about finishing my commitment to completing the "god monsters" with Ziz. However as i mentioned before, Ziz is basically a griffin so... Ja. This is going to be tricky. I have a lot of requests and I will probably have decided by tomorrow what to do. I am hoping I can pre-produce videos this year so I can also have more consistent content for you guys so... ja. these factors are whats going into my consideration right now.
