Thanks Jean, great video. DG use active eq, i preferred 3 band passive amp style "cut" eq in my prototyping as i think its more natural sounding. You can still do the DG sound, but i think my eq is more versatile. Start with eq knobs on maximum & bring them down to taste.

And it works! Very useful, no gimmick, straight forward. Lovely pedal overall, fantastic job Andrew!

I’m always a fan of CMOS stuff and the whole jumper concept seems to work pretty well in action. The bass and the pedal sound great and complement each other very well. You keep showing us excellent sounding Mozztronics stuff and I know I’m going to have to get some eventually. The jumpers seem cool and definitely can do a lot of the overall tone of the pedal but I wonder if DIP switches would have been easier and faster to use?
@thewetterbass28 күн бұрын
Maybe, but wouldn’t 3 more switches on the top make the pedal less user friendly? I argue that it is better to have a “set and forget” base sound and then sculpt it with the top controls. But yes, that’s also something the builder himself asks…! 😅

Oh and yeah… I got more very nice things to review from Mozztronics!!!

Part of the darkglass thing is having the upper mids baked in. This has way more variety, which might be too much
@thewetterbassАй бұрын
True! However, it would be too much if all the internal jumpers would be switches outside, on the top plate. However, once deciding what sound you need or want, then it’s just right. Love the eq on the BP-7 for example. 👌

@thewetterbass I start to think I need an end of chain pedal like that to provide a consistent impedance and level between some pedal combinations. Another reason for always using the amp as pre at home I guess. I like the new bass but don't hear much stingray preamp tone. More like a super P
@thewetterbassАй бұрын
That pedal can give you that preamp sound like the one in the third sound sample in the video. Interesting what you mention about the MM side of my pickup. What I primarily wanted to say is because it’s a humbucker and has similar size, it reminds me of a MM pup. But I love the “Super P” remark, I think you defined it even better that I could ever!!! ❤️ thanks!!!
@PorchBassАй бұрын
@thewetterbass well done on the bass. I must credit Dingwall for the super P moniker. Maybe the 'Tachyon P' (faster than light).

Not bad at all but can they take a spot in a space entirely taken by Darkglass ?
@thewetterbassАй бұрын
Good question. The answer to me is obviously yes, because the market already exists and consumers know what to expect. Offering a new take on that sound is always positive and a plus for sales. So although a CMOS overdrive is a CMOS overdrive, like a tube screamer is a tube screamer, this doesn’t mean that it ends with Darkglass or Ibanez. The BP-7 offers more versatility than any pedals it clones at this price range. 😉

I think this beats the pants off anything by Darkglass

@brentheathersimons7042 it’s more like “augment”, to make bigger. Like the idea though. 👌

Great demo Jean, and the only one of this pedal that seems to exist. Can I ask please - can this pedal hit the point of saturating the high mids (without fizz), but at the same time leaving lows and highs fairly clean. Im looking to add a pedal that can achieve the same kind of tone the Bill Gould acieves on the Faith No More album The Real Thing. For reference check the isolated bass track to their song Epic (kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoCtq4KCf6emfa8si=pcaO6HfAzh-Es-2r). If this pedal can do that I'll be lightening my wallet 😄.

Watching you move jumpers around an active pedal with metal pliers, seemed you were risking your life for the admirable cause of bass pedal science. Truly shocking!
