@petersimpson491613 сағат бұрын
Hey Dan, there are a couple of points north and a couple south of Sunshine that worked for me when I started in Lake Mac. I just fished the shallow water coming off the point into the deeper water, so from less than a metre deep out to 8m on some points. All within paddling distance in a kayak. The point off Silverwater was more successful for me and its more shallow for a longer distance out. Good luck.

Well done,what’s your best advice to looking in to targeting flatly and Jew in the lake.?. Have never been there..Look your productions.👏👏
@petersimpson4916Ай бұрын
Hey John, I dont know if I'm experienced enough to give you the accurate advice you're after, but here's what I did when I first started fishing Lake Mac. I started fishing the shallows casting back towards shore (mainly topwater for bream) but got some flatties doing this. Then went deeper (say 2 to 4 metres) and used blades and curltail grubs for all species around drop offs and weed edges or cockle beds. Then ventured deeper from 6 to10 metres using 100mm vibes and 5 to 6.5 inch soft plastics over cockle beds or any deep structure or under tailor schools when I specifically wanted jewfish. I found that I was catching more flathead (among multiple other species) using this method while targeting jewfish. So I just stuck with it. Persistence is key, so don't be disappointed if you don't get something as it happens to all of us. Just keep trying. Good luck.

Yeah mate, the big ones can pull pretty hard. I've noticed only a few of the larger ones do a screaming run first up, but most of the larger ones I've caught seem to be stuck on the bottom upon initial hook set as if they're buried in the sand/mud making them feel even bigger than they are. I don't know if my suggestion is whats actually happening, but if anyone else has a theory, please post it??

@@adzoutnabout8666 Yeah mate, I remember losing many small blades to flatties when I first started bream fishing in Lake Mac a few years back. I don't normally keep fish. Yeah Andrew, the glove is mainly for the flatty spines. Luckily, I've only had 2 small hooks of a size 14 treble off a small bream hardbody in my leg a few years back. They went in past the barbs but ripped out easily enough due to their size. I don't want to try it with a Samaki or Transam treble😨
