Please!!! We need tabs to whatever you're playing at 8:31 (and its tuning). So cool! Also just played a BR-160 in-shop today and I'm choosing it over the Martin D-15M I played before it (obviously $700 cheaper helps).

The A in BR-160A stands for adirondack, that is a step up from a D28 standard, which has a sitka spruce top!

This is very useful! To flesh out ideas into songs, the road goes through this, but I had no method. Also if you have any level of ADHD, it's great to have the problem broken down to smaller chunks; even if you're stuck but you have the "mood board" a good singer/producer might be able to close the gap.

I really enjoyed your video and I totally agree about the Blueridge guitars, I've played almost exclusively Alvarez and Alvarez Yairis for nearly the last 50 years, however, I tried out a Blueridge at a music store about 15-20 years ago, loved the sound and feel but couldn't afford it at the time, here in the last 6 months I've purchased 3 used ones, the BR-160, BR-70, and the BR-5060 John Jorgeson signature model, I absolutely love each one of them, plus the fact that they're nearly 3x less expensive than a Martin is super sweet! Your playing and your 160A are both Very good! I'm sure you're going to enjoy your Blueridge as much as I do mine! Thanks for the video! ✌️❤️🎶

[when chu said that perfect rhymes are cliche and it is highly predictable I'd disagree for me back when I've used to rhyme for fun i'd rhyme every single word using perfect rhyme and would use a variety of different rhyme schemes this is a snippet from one of the rhyme verses that i had created] "I'm gonna wanna rhyme sublime. Sure grow blest more so best by my success that i do hereat possess.(ooh!)" [list of words I used grouped next to the ones they are rhyming with] gonna, wanna do, ooh hereat, that i, by, my so, grow I'm, sublime, rhyme blest, best success, possess sure, more

I was out of town for a wedding when I decided to visit a local guitar shop randomly. I played a Blueridge BR-60, their cheaper D-28 model with solid top and laminet sides and back, and thought it sounded and played surprisingly great. I almost went ahead and bought it, but then I found out about the all solid wood models like this. Now I'm trying to decide if the all solid BR-160/A is worth the extra money. Seems like you can get a used one online for a couple hundred bucks more than the BR-60, but the old ones have a way more crazy headstock and I personally like these newer, more minimalistic ones. Thing is, all the new ones with the revised headstock are all going for over $1000 and are closer to $1200 actually where as a used BR-160 with the crazier headstock can be found used for around $900 it seems like. So now I'm in a pickle. Do I settle for the cheaper BR-60, which I actually greatly liked, but know that I'll eventually want to upgrade again to a fully solid acoustic, meet in the middle with the older version of a BR-160 that has the headstock I don't really care for, or pony up the cash for one of the newer BR-160 models with the cleaner headstock? Ugh decisions haha. Great video mate!

This is great! 10:30 You are not being explicit about what I had found out, to my surprise: that you change chords while keeping up your thing. In other word: You do not want to "wait for the harmonies". They do not matter to you. So is the hook the notes you sing or is it the chords. Any good musician might say: it's with or without you. How do "hook" and "chorus line" relate to each other?

Hey Sam! Thanks for taking the time to make this video. So in one year, did the revenue from your two placements exceed the total in membership fees? Just curious
@Song101uk Жыл бұрын
Hey! Yes it did. Thought it certainly wasn't an amount you could retire on 😅 If I remember correctly, the placements had a recoupable advance. That basically meant I received an upfront fee, but my share of the royalties from the publisher was withheld until that lump sum had been recouped by the publisher. It's generally a good deal for the songwriter, because even if the song is not a success, they still get paid 👍

Amazing information, thank you. There's only 1 thing I disagree with. You said that if someone else can sing it better than yourself, then make them sing it... In my experience, I had so many songs laying on the shelf only because I was waiting for my friend or whoever it was, to come in and sing it. So in my experience, if you have someone reliable, then you're right, but if not, then start training your vocals everyday. There's plenty of really good vocal coaches on KZbin that can teach it to you, and if you're consistent, then you don't need nobody!

Second time I hear someone using word ”wicked” as a positive adjective. First time was 20 years ago in Camden Town, some street market person described his product to be ’real wicked’. I was: who wants to buy anything like that, I’d rather use my money for something nice.

I’m sorry but with Martin, you pay for the name. These sound every bit as good and quality is same maybe better. I have found workmanship on many martins to be sloppy.
@wisconsinkraut34454 ай бұрын
You can absolutely get a Martin that will be perfect in every way, it will only cost you 10k minimum. They are still some of the best pro level guitars around, anything less than that yeah your paying for the headstock.

They are good but all factory made. There are much better guitars out there in my opinion. Martin is paying for the name

Couldn't agree more, except that the customer shop at Martin does hand make guitars and they are very nice, played one at a luthier's shop in Madison absolutely beautiful instrument and cost more than my car.

I would argue that perhaps the drums in "We Will Rock You" by Queen and in "Down With the Sickness" by Disturbed act as hooks since they help identify the song as soon as your hear them. But great video, great example of hook writing. Thank you for sharing!
@Song101uk Жыл бұрын
Yep, agreed! The difficulty with hooks that aren't melodic is making them unique. Usually it's done through the production rather than the actual composition of the music (i.e. what the drums sound like rather than what the drummer is actually playing). As always, there are some exceptions, and I think you've highlighted two good ones!

Top lining to an arrangement/track has been a norm in hip hop, r&b and pop music for years. It’s actually the most popular way of working. Track first is a standard. Even though song first is very efficient too. I feel it’s good for a producer to know how to work both ways. Be versatile and open for change.
