Kearney displaced the " governor" of Santa fe quickly. The governor fled with much oro, stashed in saddlebags never to be seen again. A stain on the honor of the people of Santa fe.

It is curious how the Americans who historically always despised ruins, historical sites, and destroyed countless vestiges now see a pile of stones and immediately give it an exaggeratedly old date, I remember seeing in a certain "archaeological" publication a report on the Pueblo Indians and their constructions and they called them "the Athens of America. ....😂

He is a legend for a reason. This man is very intelligent! The one reason it took them so long to catch up to him. But maybe just as important is the fact that he obviously adapted and thrived in any situation. Perseverance is an amazing quality! RIP sir.

Dan: Sims Ely died in 1954. His son was handling his dad’s affairs including the publishing of the book. I cannot answer your question other than there is a world of children who did not follow in their father’s footsteps and his son was evidently one.
