Really really well done programming! Fantastic...thankyou. I'm not thinking there is anything at all left for anyone to still find though? Not that has anything to do with the "lost" mine or whatever! But wouldn't it be something else if there is!! Wow

well Larry all of this is vary interesting but still up in the air like you said what story is true i guess time will tell with so many people searching and with resorces at hand still nothing makes you wonder if it was just mastake of another mine .

I never believed the Peralta story behind the The Lost Dutchman gold mine. It always sounded too contrived. As for the stone maps that many think are legit well how convenient it was that they turned up and were supposedly found by accident. These kinds of things don't happen by accident. Why they were made and who made them is for someone else to someday truthfully answer. But to your story, I don't believe the Tomlinsons found any treasure or gold directly related to Jacob Waltz. If they did find something well then there must be more than one lost mine in the Superstitions which would make sense given its geology of being an ancient volcanic caldera that weathered away to reveal its treasures. Unfortunately, time and the greed of men has hidden again what the mountain had once plentifully revealed.

Thanks Larry for explaining the dubious validity of many of the Dutchman stories. I seem to remember reading years ago that James Revis and the Peralta name came from his gaining possession of a floating claim filed by a Miguel Peralta and sold to a man named Willing, I believe, and Revis got the claim paperwork from a probate judge in Prescott after Willing's death. That floating claim was the original basis for his Peralta land grant scam. There was a Peralta land grant in California that encompassed much of what is now the East Bay part of the San Francisco Bay Area. The land grant dates back to 1820, I believe, and there was a fight over it in the 1850s. Since that was big news at the time, I believe that helped Revis to lend authenticity to his scam 20 years later, since the Peralta name existed in people's memories although they probably didn't remember why. Then Bicknell latched onto the Peralta name because of the Revis scam 20 years before Bicknell's article so the Peralta name was in people's memories, again for an unknown reason. The Peralta name has been associated with the Lost Dutchman ever since.I personally believe that the Peralta name has nothing to do with the Lost Dutchman Mine. Just my two cents worth.

@larryhedrick254 hey Larry I just finished watching that video. Was kind of strange. I searched through all the videos listed for Mysteries of the Superstition Mountains, and I couldn't find it. When I did a utube search for it, I found it on the channel of some guy named David Jones. Never heard of him before. Anyway, yes, that is the story I read except for one difference. In the story I read, it was a "floating" gold claim, which is a claim that is filed without a specific location. The specific location was to be filled in later, and it was Reavis that turned it into a land grant and gave it a specific location, possibly with the lawyer's help. I also seem to remember that Reavis' motive for the scam wasn't to gain control of the land, but was for the water rights and he planned to sell the water to develop agriculture in the Phoenix area.. I found that story in an old California newspaper on microfilm in the State Library in Sacramento. I copied the article but lost it with almost everything else in a big PG&E fire in California when it took my cabin in Calaveras county 10 years ago. I never heard about the association of Miguel Peralta and the Spanish massacre. Thanks for the additional details.

Lucky, I agree with your assessment and so would Tom Kollenborn who believed the Mexicans had precious little if anything to do with mining in the Superstitions. My story on the grant was a put down to a guy who claimed the Valencia Mine in the Black Canyon area was the Lost Dutchman Mine which he constantly claimed he found and had a st ore published in Treasure Magazine as proof. Haven’t heard a word out of him since. David Jones is the founder and camera man for Mysteries

The mine was found and never disclosed and the money helped develop gold field ranch, just one of many possibilities…

Why would anyone look for a gold mine their when the government would take it all away from you 😮
