Seeing a young Patty Duke really makes you see how much Sean Astin takes after her.❤ He looks just like her!

It took a lot more to film this than it took when they performed this scene on Broadway 8 times a week. This is one of the most brilliantly acted scenes in the world.

This one scene demonstrates how crucial it is to have knowledgeable, competent, and compassionate caregivers. Especially for those living with severe disabilities and who require specialized care and patience. Helen Keller is a living example of how the right care and the right person can drastically change a life. Annie Sullivan filled that role perfectly. Thank you, Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke, for your portrayal of two very special people

I always find both 'Star!' and 'Funny Girl' such anomalies where you have two actresses who are actually far more talented than the stars they are playing. Granted, I never saw Fanny Brice nor Gertrude Lawrence in performance (one can only imagine they were probably, in the style of their time, quite fantastic), but Andrews and Streisand are/were such megastars they almost deserve musicals of their own.

It’s almost no wonder people with certain disabilities and mental health problems were in those days considered to have demons inside them or something… could you imagine someone from the 1800s watching this behaviour… it’s bloody hard to believe that this child is NOT in fact possessed!! 😂😂😂😩😩😩

Have you heard the things this blind and deaf woman was supposed to have said? It’s called facilitator bias and it’s been seen numerous times. Helen didn’t “say” those things, Anne did.

As a disabled person and knowing this was normal treatment of disabled kids is so heartbreaking. And before anyone says "it worked for her!", that isn't justification for abusing a child *ever*.
@dietdoubledew8986
@dietdoubledew8986 Ай бұрын
There is no abusing in that scene. They fight as if they're equals. The fact that she lost dosen't mean she was abused. The only things which were damaged are the room and the pride of a spoiled girl. In fact she rescued her from the asylum and the abuse right there.. Teaching her to communicate was a gift. But the lesson in the dinning room was a nessecity.
