I was 14 years old & I begged my Dad to take me to see this. Jane was my favorite actress!. Jane should have received an Oscar for this movie, she was robbed!

I honestly think I'd have to watch this with my kids because it's so disturbing. The derby scenes would give kids nightmares especially when Sailor keels over dead from a heart attack.

Jane Fonda gave a stellar performance in this movie and I agree with ooks 1969 was an amazing year for actresses. Pauline Kael said that her performance in this movie means that she was on her way to becoming one of the best actresses of the 70s.

I think Jane should have won the Oscar for this one. I saw all the others in the category and I'm a huge Maggie fan, but Fonda was the best of the league.

I've think that both the movie and the actress, Jane Fonda, should of received an oscar. now the 1969 greatest movie event is all gone and forgotten.

It is true today as well in the form of REALITY TELEVISION and was true when the Christians were fed to the lions. Humans beings love being entertained by pathos, as witnessed by our own enjoyment inn watching this great film ... we are as guilty as the wealthy people in the stands cheering on the 'dancers."
