In the denouement while Mr Ustinov's Poirot is explaining how the murders were committed and the camera coverage is wide with the suspects in the background, I watched Ms Davis thinking, well you don't really have to do anything since the focus is on Poirot and the solution to the mystery. But every bit the professional she was, Ms Davis' face registered subtle reactions to every revelation. She was still very much in character - such a treat to behold.

I really prefer the Peter Ustinov Poirot films to the earlier star-studded "Murder on the Orient Express." Of course "Death on the Nile" has the advantage of the locations. Its follow-ups, "Evil Under the Sun" and "Appointment with Death" were also good but, though they boasted some star-power, never quite measured up to "Nile." If you're curious, those films' respective grande dames were Diana Rigg ("Evil") and Lauren Bacall with a side of Piper Laurie ("Appointment").
