The worst thing that happened to Snyder was him getting his Justice League Snyder Cut released. This gave him a huge Ego and gave him way too much clout because he has given us nothing but drek since.

When Snyder turned in the original script it was around 190 to 200 pages long, which would have made the movie around 3 hours. It was Netflix that told Snyder to expand the script and do two parts instead of just one movie.

I couldn't face the second Rebel Moon. I left the first one thinking well it was much more impressed with itself than I was so it doesn't need me.

I feel like another problem this movie has as a space opera is that it doesn't have anything nuanced to say. It has nothing to say about politics or fascist empires that we haven't seen before. It's just trying to one-up what Star Wars did with their fascist empires. It almost has something interesting to say about how fascists try to make you feel like the only way to achieve happiness and a sense of community is to contribute to this massive fascist machine and fight for it, contrasting that against what an actual community looks like and how to achieve real happiness. But it doesn't try to delve into any of that, it doesn't try to make its own story and identity. There is a hint of a good story but it's never taken advantage of. It's just taking the stories that inspired Star Wars and plastering it with Wallmart versions of Warhammer aesthetic.

When I was 15 I liked Ready Player One, but there’s a reason why I didn’t stay 15. Ernest Clines not only a one trick pony author, he’s also very morally…..questionable as far as his worldview. Don’t like him. Don’t support him. Definitely won’t be picking up Armada.

My favorite books of last year would have to be The Wise Man’s Fear by Patrick Rothfuss, a couple Sanderson books like Elantris and The Way of Kings but most of all, The Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolfe. Easily some of the most bizarre and profound SFF I’ve ever read.
