Luigi’s Pizza was once The Beauty Spot Restaurant. Surprised you didn’t mention that. Nice camera work…Just amazing what happened to a once thriving city…

Thank you, Antonio. I could not remember. Which one was the beauty spot restaurant. It’s been so long since I have seen that place open. I agree is amazing to see how bad it can get when people just don’t care anymore. The busiest thing was the beggars on the corner and the liquor store

There use to be a Harvey's department store between 38th and 39th. I use to go there when I was a kid. My grandma lived at 39th and Adam's. Can't believe the difference here, so sad. I worked with Roy Boy (Cooper) at Bethlehem Steel. Remember going by his trailer in South Haven. Sure do miss those days. Thanks for the video bro.

I got my first tattoo at Roy boys when I was 17 for a birthday present my mom had to sign a permission slip for me to get it. Harvey’s was our number one spot to go. It was right next to Nick‘s produce where the new Badlands shop is now. I feel the same way. I walked around there. My heart just sunk. We were lucky to enjoy the good days when the city was vibrant and full of life. You are very welcome for the video Brother and I appreciate you sharing your memories.

Seeing these buildings, every time I'm transported in time to when I was a kid, walking with my parents down Broadway in 68, 69. All the small businesses...little family owned places. Handed down through generations. All the immigrants that had settled that area. I can almost smell the food in the air. Along with the sulphur from the mill, of course.

You're right, rough to see Gary like this. I have been thinking hard on how Gary could be brought back. I think demolishing almost everything one building at a time. It will take decades. Then, maybe, it will become the ripe, prime real estate it once was. They don't build 'em like they used to that's for sure. Sometimes I get torn on just remembering how it once was rather than seeing what it has become. Thanks for another piece of documentation. Perhaps one day it will serve the future in a way we can't think of. Take care Storm.

They have been doing that since I was living in Glen Park. I hate beggars, especially in the parking lot of liquor stores and standing at the corner, where the lights are is very dangerous.

From Leo: I have not been by in a while. I almost shed a tear when I see that the Harvey store is gone. For a broke little kid on 35th and Pennsylvania, Harvey's was like heaven. Yeah, I got a lot of memories there also. Where you grew up is always home, even if it is only in your memories. It is good that those ruined buildings are being torn down. Hopefully people will not dump loads of trash in the cleaned lots. Thanks for your good work Storm!

Hello there Barb it’s nice to hear from you and I feel the same way. It’s always home especially right around that neighborhood and I cannot describe the way. I feel when I see these places that’s why I thought it was important to document the way they look now so we can’t remember how good we had it ❤️🫵😉

It was interesting to see storefronts from back in the day. The ghost of '60s & '70s prosperity at almost every address. The floor to ceiling window treatments (really dont see that anymore) And Luigi's Pizza. When I see those sad empty light sockets above the front window, I can almost picture those sparkling chaser lights as the delivery guy rushes out with a couple of hot pies & speeds away in his AMC Gremlin. Thanks Storm It's nice to see the progress since y'all got started. You shining that "light on the blight" DEFINITELY has had a positive effect 👍

It's really sad to see so many buildings in this neighborhood in disrepair. I do have to say that even though seeing them demolished is also pretty sad, once they are cleaned up, it does look a lot better, even just as an empty lot. I also don't like beggers always asking for a handout. It seems what they're really looking for is drug or liquor money. That's a no-go with me. I especially also hate when they're in traffic like that. I always thought that was illegal anyway. It probably is but the cop's can't keep up with them. They're all over the place. I was a little concerned with that lady yelling at you, but it thankfully looked like she meant no harm. Well, I hear some bad weather is coming your way soon. So stay warm, dry, and safe, Paul! See you on the next one ❤👍

You're right, those empty lots look better than what was there before, and I am definitely not giving money to people in the street. I don't like it when people are in the middle of the road, but I try not to make eye contact, they seem to move along quickly when they don't think they can get anything.
