i have 2 green sunfish that eat anything... live/ pellet they hit it hard everytime... water splashes my face.... been raising them from about an inch long. I had creek chubs in the tank wihc i fed pellets... the sunfish got trained by seeing the chubs eat the pellets. I did not intentionally train them to eat the pellets, it kinda just happened. My one green sunfish eventually ate the creek chubs and is out growing the other geen sunfish. But they are not picky at all , go from live to pellet, pellet to live everytime no problems... cant say the same thing about my blue gills and pumkinseeds. The pumkinseeds seem to be the most picky while ive had my largest blue gill who i have the longest eat some pellets but he wont "fill up" the way he does on other foods.Perhaps i need to to be more patient and stick with ur method. Thanks for the knowledge borther!

Me too! LOL This video helped more then you could know. Bigger story then I can tell you , but a little of it is that I have a RES that's refusing to eat her 2 types of usual pellet food, but she will eat tuna from the can so I'm gonna use this to try and make something yummy for her. I bought canned shrimp and tuna because the vet recommended giving her some shrimp with Higher Vitamin A greens such as Chard. Plus by watching your video I had forgotten about the wheat germ and she is having trouble with shedding lately so I just ordered some of that to add to it too. I've checked all the other usual stuff of temps, lights and everything so I think this will really help her nutrition. I know with your help in this video I'll get her back on track so just know your time is appreciated and you are helping save lives.... at least hers. :) Thanks!

@Day5Aquatics Personally, I think it was either starvation or suffocation. Do they frequently go up to for air? Corydoras have high metabolism. They constantly search the bottom of the tank for food, so when they do that and come up empty every day, I think they starve. In nature, their search is rewarded with enough bits and pieces of food. In an aquarium we are thought not to overfeed, but Corysbare shy and before they even start to feed in a community tank (when we leave), the other fish have already found most of the food. Feed some Cory food at night when most fish in your community tank sleep. That may work

Well done. Looking good. May I ask what is the inner diameter on the pond hose? Also i am in the same situation as you about having to put my fx6 on the outside of my tank due to the fact that it doesn't fit under the new tank stand we got... a glamour piece of furniture my wife got and had me replace my original tank stand with due to appeal. I know right women. But now she doesn't want my fx6 just sitting next to the glamour stand because it's "ugly" so i had to decommission my fx6 resulting in poor water quality since HOB filters i am now using are no where near as good as the fx6. So yeah now i have to make a glamour style box to put my fx6 inside so that it matches the stand lol.

Trying to find a fix for mine after the tubes cracked on my fx5.. with a pinhole leak on those ribbed tubing near the connector to the filter outtake. Found your video while searching.. impressive solution. I want to do this!! Thanks for sharing this idea.. the tubes started leaking today... after like 12 years of having fx5.. Beautiful tank! I currently have a 75 with a red eared slider and was thinking about adding a few sunnies - Any thoughts?
@Day5Aquatics
@Day5Aquatics 2 жыл бұрын
Having kept sliders before, it doesn’t typically work out very well for the fish. Especially if the turtle was in there first. Sunfish aren’t small and agile enough to avoid a turtle forever. One morning you’ll wake up to a cloudy tank with tiny bits of sunfish floating around. It may be a week it may be a month or maybe even 6 months, but it will happen. Also, sliders get pretty cramped in a 75, especially if you have a female.

I love my Perfect Dipnet. I use it mostly for collecting brackish areas for my oyster reef biotope tank. But, I've done Ok in creeks using it like you would when kick seining. One person holds the net against the current while the other person kicks rocks moving downstream to the net. This is a good way to get darters. You can do this yourself also using the dipnet by positioning the net downstream of you, then you kick up rocks to the net. Sunnies are very smart, but a good way to get them is to scoop up vegetation that they may be hiding in. I know that this vid is a few years old, but if you get back into collecting again... I like your channel and have subscribed. I need to go back and check out more of your content. I love the longear tank vids. I found a spot near me that has longears that we've caught using hook and line and will be going back to catch some for our local public aquarium. I may start up a tank for them at home too. You've inspired me to at least consider it LOL.
